I absolutely do not agree that the pope is ‘too soft’.

NBC aired a joke on an entertainment program…frankly it was a bad joke…unfunny…and not entertaining…offensive to a large group of people.

However, it does not make these folks pagan or anti-Catholic.
I disagree about the Pope and the Church at large, but that is for another thread.

I believe RW’s skit was well planned and well executed, with full and complete consent and knowledge of NBC and Jay Leno. It was a vile, perverse and sick skit of humor aimed directly at the faith, at Priests in general and the Church at large and no-one stopped the skit when they could have easily stopped it. If you think that is not a sign of anti-Catholicism, then we strongly disagree.

As for them being pagans, that is merely MY opinion. I think this country is mainly populated by pagans and that this situation is simply a sign of the paganism of this country. That is my opinion, nothing more and nothing less. I think this nation ceased being anything like a Christian based people, or even God based people, a very long time ago.

Well that’s your loss I suppose.

On the Today show this morning, Donahue of the Catholic League was interviewed along with some guy that was supposed to be a Catholic. Donahue spouted and steamed, but in the end, it did no good whatsoever. I came away believing that it will continue to be open season on all Catholics by the media, and all the posts and letter writing will not stop it. Since comments about blacks, Italians, Polish, blondes, gays and lesbians, and Mexicans are not politically correct, I guess Catholics are all that’s left. I never did like Robin Williams anyway.

It will stop if all Catholics ceased watching NBC and let them know why. NBC would fold quiakly if 70,000,000 people took a walk away from them.

The problem is most people are really pagans and they are NOT about to make themselves uncomfrotable by turning off NBC, so this perverse garbage will just continue. It is a “me first” culture and most so-called Catholics are part of the paganism that has capture our nation.

I agree with you 100%. Nobody, including Catholics, can stay together long enough, to get anything accomplished. Being a senior citizen, I can remember years ago when we could stick together, and get some things accomplished, but I guess those days are gone forever. God help us all.

It will take an awakening that can only come from God.

I think we Catholics must have something right. We are a big, big, very big organization. We can take it. That doesn’t mean we have to like it, but we are better than those with the cheap shots. Robin Williams has and will continue to recieve back-lash for this, but not so much from us Catholics, but by his own doings. Decent folk of all walks of life and faiths and denominations simply turn away from such ignorance.

Its sort of like a faithful person getting angry with God. He can take it. More so, I think God takes any anger we might hand Him quite well. He takes it in stride as a good Father.

We still need good persons skilled in appologetics. There are times a stand needs to be taken. But, by and large, these upshots like Robin Williams come and go along with there movies and their 15-minuets of fame on a TV program.

He is appealing to a very small audience of narrow minded people who would believe even a 10th of his accussations.

I agree with your comments about God as our Father–God can hanlde it.

I disagree with your comments about RW and the impact this has on his life. RW is a seasoned pro and he did exactly what he wanted, and imo the vast majority of people AGREE with RW. The only outcry (if it can be called that) has come from a small percentage of Catholics who still love Christ and His Church, the rest do not even know it happened. We do not see our so-called Protestant brethren speaking againt RW, nor do we hear from Jews or Muslims or Buddhists…the outcry comes froma very small band of Catholics, faithful Catholics who still care.

So now…all the viewers of the anti-Catholic NBC network are Pagan…someone alert the bishop’s conference…they provide programming to NBC.

Read it again, I said most, not all. That is my opinion. I know you don’t agree, no big deal. You do need to read what I say more carefully, you tend to put words in my mouth that are not there. 🙂

Are we talking about the same Bill Donahue? The guy is a dream advocate: passionate, fiery, and tenacious and he plays very well in this sound-bite media.
He never seems to be able to speak to the faith. He trips all over himself.

Anybody know what show Bill Donahue was on today and what was said?
I wish he would put a listing on his site of when he’ll be on tv. I love listening to him when he gets fired up.

Anything we say in return will be discredited because the whole scandal situation is unanswerable. Whatever outrage we feel should be nothing compared to the outrage that was NOT exercised against the perpetrators of the offenses.

Never mind that Catholic priests far from the only group and do not even have the worst incidence of this among their ranks.

Pray the *miserere *and offer it up.

Very wisely said 👍 - indignation against him is all very well, but he’s right: Catholic priests are not meant to do what so many did. If priests had not done those things - that would be a different matter entirely; but they did. So we can hardly complain if people point this out.

Unless the Church has some God-given right never to be criticised for her sins - this is certainly not a right we think other churches have, so why should we be treated better than we treat others ? 😊 🤷

I guess we’re not watching the same guy.
Yes we are, we just see it differently. I think he tries hard, yet he rarely ever speaks to “why” Catholics believe as they do. He does not give reasons for the faith he has, he only uses a blunt speech style to attack people for attacking the Church, but he never delves into the why of the questions.

If Catholics continue to act just like unbelievers, what do you say? The frequency of divorce among Christians and secular people are about even. The reason is clear, the less we model the life of Christ and the more we model the life of the world, the more we act like the world.

It’s taken about 30 years, but how else can you explain some Catholics paying no mind to profanity, to whores on magazine covers (certain female celebrities like Paris and Britney), and going against the teachings of the Church?

Robin Williams is giving out the exact same message many other “comedians” and commentators are giving out: it’s OK to bash Catholics and religion in general. Bob Hope wouldn’t have done that or Bill Cosby or Red Skelton.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
