Crake? Wow, you are inventing new words just for me?!?! I am geniunely flattered. However, I will submit that Always There For You and Calling On You are great tunes in anyone’s estimation. Styper even made the cover of Hit Parader magazine in the 80s so they weren’t considered entirely cheese. Oz Fox was considered one of the premier metal guitarists of his time, and Charvel guitars even release a limited edition guitar named after him.

Yes, I did, it was derived from the word crack… Crake is to crack as good is to best… 🙂

I can’t say too much about Stryper, you brought it up…😃 you knew some would laugh…

**HEY I can assure you my husband is not gay! I speak from experience 😃 **As for his Navy buddy that also loves Depeche Mode, I’ll take his wife’s word for it. My husband also loves Metallica, Tool, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Type O Negative, Misfits, Evenessence (-however you spell that) among others. Go figure?

There’s nothing wrong with Depeche Mode. Everybody I know that listens to them is a straight male. Most women can’t stand them. I have to say, IMHO, they’re a lot better than Air Supply and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. 😃

Having been raised on 80’s “hair” metal, it’s still my favorite. Nothing like guys in spandex with big hair and the amps turned up to 11. Scorpions, Def Leppard, Ratt, Dokken, Crue, Winger, Poison, Kiss, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Cinderella, Britney Fox, Aerosmith and Whitesnake. I also have a special place in my heart for Boston, Journey, the Doobie Brothers and Billy Squire. However, and I KNOW I’ll get laughs from this crew, my absolute favorite was and still is Stryper, that big hair Christian metal band of the late 80s - early 90s. I’ve actually corresponded with Michael Sweet a couple of times.
We agree on politics and music. You can take any of the bands from the 80’s you mentionsed and they are better than anything since. A lot of those guys were really talented. CC Devil even went to Julliard. One of the things I miss about Houston is that they have a station that plays all 80’s music. Nirvina was horrible, so is Pearl Jam and all other Grunge style bands. STP was good, but they weren’t really Grunge. Some late 70’s and early 80’s hard rock was really good also. Kiss and AC/DC are great. AC/DC is by far the best concert I’ve ever seen.

On another musical note. Have any of you heard about the guy that one of the original members of Pantera being killed in a concert last night?

MARTIN SEXTON!!! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/5/5_2_103.gif
The greatest living musician. I pity those of you who have not been exposed to him yet.
and of course, Van Morrison. These are the single two greatest male musicians in my life.
And i like to throw a little Tori Amos in there to mix things up a bit.

Can’t believe I forgot the Cure. Listening to “Love Cats” right now.:bounce:

hey seven sorrows, i was listening to your band’s music and i admire it. finally, a decent christian band. everything nowadays is pop-punk. it would help, though, if you were a little more creative. the themes were great, but the lyrics lacked that special feeling that makes bands great. the guitar could use some change too. not just distortion on/off, but a few solos and something different, you know. its too similar throughout the song. it makes it seem like some sort of dark punk. it takes guts to be a God loving band. keep up the good work.:yup:

to seven sorrows:

i also noticed that on vengeance, the faster, angrier part would sound better in a higher pitched voice. Not to an extreme, but so that it goes smoother.

The Cure also make excellent music. I went to their concert and their were too many goths for my liking. 80 per cent of their sings are outstanding. There are one or two which cross the line and should not be listened to.

Favorite Rock Band? The Doors … there are no others as far as I’m concerned.

RADIOHEAD is the best band in the World!!!

I also like The Mars Volta
Brandon

Radiohead is definitely up there. I’d have to say my favorite band/artist is Stereolab. They take elements from the past(Krautrock, Brazilia, 60’s pop, etc) and form it into something that doesn’t sound derivitive, but completely new and exciting.

Here are the rest of my top ten fave artists, in no particular order:
My Bloody Valentine
John Coltrane
Yo La Tengo
Iron and Wine
Tortoise
Medeski, Martin and Wood
Red House Painters
The Roots
Talib Kweli
