Journey
Boston
Hootie and the Blowfish
Rush
The Dooby Bros
Creed
The Goo Goo Dolls
Genesis
The Moody Blues
who sings ‘Stairway to Heaven’??? yea, that band
Switchfoot
Jars of Clay
Third Day…

ok, that’s all I can think of at the moment.

I listen to everything but rap. No one wants me to list everything here. It is highly interesting to see the musical tastes of people here.

But my favorites are
Creed
Metallica
Pink Floyd
Eagles
And then it get interesting
Simon and Garfunkel

And I do like to listen to country also. And classical

John of Woking:
The Cure also make excellent music. I went to their concert and their were too many goths for my liking. 80 per cent of their sings are outstanding. There are one or two which cross the line and should not be listened to.
 wait a minute, you were just talking about how nirvana is evil. but its pretty much the same thing. they have good songs, and one or two crosses the line.

Led Zeppelin sings stairway to heaven.

My favorites? Gee, where to start?

Lots of late 1970s/early 1980s: Kiss, old Boston, Doobies, Eagles, you name it.

The best:
  • Styx - still rockin’ like nobody’s business!
  • Blue Oyster Cult - on tour forever; no one like 'em!
  • Sammy Hagar - the best, most musical lyricist (or is that lyrical musician?)
  • Rush - the thinking man’s rock band; yes, their drummer (Neil Peart) is an atheist and got hung up on Ayn Rand, but he is THE greatest living drummer, and any band whose bassist plays the melody is mondo creative
  • Joe Satriani - the undisputed king of all guitarists. He can play anything in any key, as fast or as slow as needed; only Stevie Ray Vaughan knew his instrument as well as Joe does.
I can’t get tired of Satriani; Flying in a Blue Dream, Summer Song (four different versions, only one of them studio), Crystal Planet, Engines of Creation - he just rocks better than anyone else.

Have you heard Styx’ live concert cover of I Am The Walrus? Absolutely awesome!

random guy:
…the guy (Kurt Cobane) was tormented by the thought of selling out.
How terrible and unbelievable. 99.9% of these guys are dying to sell out. Kurt would have killed himself no matter which vocation chose him. He needed help.

actually, if you look at earlier posts somebody explained how its possible kurt didnt kill himself

BloodandFire:
  1. His Heroine level was too high for him to handle a gun
  2. And the way the rifled was positioned he would have broke his arm if he actually did it…He didnt break his arm
  3. His letter to the world was just him leaving the music industry

random guy:
rape me is about a guy who rapes a girl and goes to jail for it, where he is raped.
sorry, i’d like to make a correction on that. according to a book i have, it was an attack on the media for their obsession with every detail of cobain’s life

RADIOHEAD is the best band in the World!!!

I also like The Mars Volta
Brandon

Radiohead make the best music that is undoubtable. I have seen them in concert about eight times. I even had their first rare single ‘banana co’. However I am not sure that Idioteque and We Suck Young Blood is compatible with Catholic sensibilities. The lyrics are disturbing

John of woking → what do you have against goths?

Fellicia XXX
Hi I notice you’re from the Wirral. I have friends up that way. Anyway back to your question. Goths Traditionally were a nihilist movement and were very anti-Christian c.f. Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim.

Well Nirvana and their ‘Satan worshipping’ T-shirts pushed the boat out too far for my liking

The Smashing Pumpkins! Billy Corgan is the man when it comes to alternative rock. No one else even comes close to him as a songwriter, performer and dedication to his fans. :tiphat:

I don’t know about anti christian…they came from Germany and they wore dark clothes…they are not even slightly like this anymore…its a name that people have given a certain group of people with a different dress sense…they don’t ‘COME FROM’ this group of Germans and they certainly are not at all like them. They were named after them as an offence because they wore darker clothes, I guess the name has just stuck.

Yes I am from wirral…Are any of your friends young and catholic?
