Rocket has prostate cancer

I visited with my urologist this morning and a biopsy I had last week showed a small tumor which is cancerous but not aggressive according to the doctor. Both of my brothers have had it also.

My urologist explained all of the options to me and was leaning towards the insertion of radiation pellets for treatment. Another doctor I talked with suggested observation as I will be 77 next February. He said many elderly men get prostate cancer but in many cases it moves slowly and something else may probably cause death before the cancer does.

I have been an endurance athlete for the last 44 years and have a strong cardiovascular system and good physical strength.

I am leaning towards the radiation.

I would appreciate your prayers and learn of any experiences others have had with this problem.

I need to make a decision next month and am talking to my friends and relatives who have had the same problem before I decide what to do.

What did your brother’s do and how did it turn out for them?

May God grace you with wisdom to know what to do and have a full recovery.

Hi Rocket,
My dad had the pellet insertion nearly a decade ago. The biggest drawback was that he could not have his grandchildren sit in his lap while reading to them due to radioactivity. This applied for a limited time-perhaps a year; you will want to check with your physician for more accurate information.
Dad is not one to make much of his difficulties, but I recall a comment about painful urination ( a burning sensation) during this time.
We kids (and mom of course) are well pleased with the result: Negative test results ever since.
May God bless you and keep you and may the archangel Raphael join in my prayers for your health and healing. Amen.

I am so sorry to hear this and shall keep you in my prayers that your doctors will be guided by God to give you the best treatment possible.
You are such a Godsend to everyone here at CAF. I thankyou for all your prayers you selflessly pray for others.
My father in law has prostate cancer and is having treatment to delay the cancer spreading.So far it is under control.
My husband has an enlarged prostate and is on medication for this.
Whatever decision you and your doctors make I pray God will guide them and you.

Many thanks for your prayers. I have been talking to my friends who have fought this and they have given me some useful info. I plan to set up an appointment with the oncologist next week to discuss all of the options in detail.

One of my brothers had his prostate taken out 8 or 9 years ago and was doing fine. He had bone, lung and stomach cancer two years ago and passed away in May. My other brother has what I have and they are observing it for the time being.
