I was randomly looking up videos on Youtube (😃 ) when I happened upon these:

Are these people actually claiming to be part of the Catholic Church, as in, the Church in union with the Bishop of Rome? It doesn’t seem like they could be Episcopalians, since they say “Roman Catholic”. What is this all about? I know that this is of course invalid and illicit, but who are these people? Did any bishops actually have anything to do with this?

Be careful of those bearing false witness. They are NOT roman catholic priest no matter what they what to say.
This is one of many movements that object to Catholic doctrine, by thier rejection of the doctrine and the actions they have taken, they are no longer in communion with the Churhc nor Roman Catholic.

They know that their “ordinations” are illicit and contrary to canon law. However, they claim that these “ordinations” are valid. This is a false claim. They claim that the first batch of RCWPs were ordained by an actual bishop, however they are “sworn to secrecy” else this mystery bishop get sanctioned. Perhaps it is true that some bishop did start it off, but even if was done by a bishop, it doesn’t make the ordinations valid. A bishop cannot validly ordain a woman even if he wanted to.

In their mind, they are a grassrotts organization that is “being the change they want to see in the Church.” They believe they are still Catholics, even though they understand that they are not part of any diocese. They know they are doing something that is not allowed, but they think that it is a necessary step in order to force the institutional Church to change.

I find it best not to engage such organizations. They are really on the fringe. It can be helpful to be aware that such people are out there, but we ought not give them undue attention. That’s what they’re looking for.

They are heretics and schismatics. They are causing grave scandal by the preaching of their heresy and their rebellion from Rome.

Being male is an essential aspect of the Sacrament of Holy Orders. No matter how holy a priest or bishop is, he can not consecrate a donut at Mass. A defect in matter is present.

They should get over it and submit to the revelation of Christ and give up on their feminist pride.

They also do not realize that apostolic succession is much more than simply being ordained by someone that was ordained by someone, etc. back to the apostles. It is also about doctrines, and by claiming that women can be ordained, they break seriously with apostolic doctrine, which is thus a break with apostolic succession, regardless of whether they were ordained by a valid bishop. This is the same situation with the Anglicans.

Also, the comparison to the office of deaconess is false. Deaconesses were never part of holy orders, and had no sacramental power, from my reading of the office.

Several years ago these women came to Pittsburgh and ordained themselves on our three rivers. I had the “honor” of exchanging e-mails with Joan Houk, one of the women who freely chose to enter into this sham. She was very angry that I would disagree with her rights. I hold on to those e-mails to this day
I am not welcomed on the WOC website but I do try to keep up with their movement. For me they are a disgrace and an example of what pride can do to your soul.

Yes, the thing with many liberals, both religious and political, is that if we believe against them, it is offensive, but it isn’t offensive that they believe against us.

I’ve noticed that they don’t even attempt to keep the liturgies that are standard. Instead, the Trinity invocation is changed, they talk about the Divine Feminine, etc. I’m not surprised that neo-pagan thought is involved in this.

There have been times that I have entered into dialogue with traditional Catholics about this subject
they see no problem because they are a fringe group. I see them as a direct threat to the faith. Far too many Catholics think we should move into the 21st century and allow priests to marry
women priests
and gays if they lead a celebate life. I feel really old sometimes in my faith, but I will remain true to the Truth.

Thanks for the words
God bless!

Maybe someone should tell these people that the Church is not a democracy. Jesus is our King by virtue of Who He is, and His Sacrifice. We cannot change the Sacraments! Whats next? Since they are all up in arms about the Sacrament of Holy Orders, I have one that they should be partaking of more frequently: Confession!

Be careful not to mix issues. women priest are an issue that in our life time will never happen. Preist being allowed to marry, as they once did, is a dicplinary matter in the Church and can be change. A vow of celabacy is a vow of celabcy, no matter the orientation.

Unfortunately, with our society as it is at this point in time one change may bring the house down.

Don’t fret. The United States only make up about 6% of the total world Catholics. Our secular movements don’t touch most of the world. Catholics around the world are very conservitive holding to what we would call traditional values. As I heard a speaker recently say, the Pope doesn’t wake up every morning with his primary concern the American Church. these are issues that a society with far too much money and too much time fret about. Much of the rest of the world is still struggling with from were the next meal will come.

Anyone who attempts ordination of a woman, including the woman herself, incurs automatic excommunication, by that act:
Translated text of the Decree of May 29, 2008:
Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
General Decree
Regarding the crime of attempting sacred ordination of a woman
The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, to protect the nature and validity of the sacrament of holy orders, in virtue of the special faculty conferred to it by the supreme authority of the Church (see canon 30, Canon Law), in the Ordinary Session of December 19, 2007, has decreed:
Remaining firm on what has been established by canon 1378 of the Canon Law, both he who has attempted to confer holy orders on a woman, and the woman who has attempted to receive the said sacrament, incurs in* latae sententiae* excommunication, reserved to the Apostolic See.
If he who has attempted to confer holy orders on a woman or if the woman who has attempted to receive holy orders, is a member of the faithful subject to the Code of Canon Law for the Eastern Churches, remaining firm on what has been established by canon 1443 of the same Code, they will be punished with major excommunication, whose remission remains reserved to the Apostolic See (see canon 1423, Canon Law of the Eastern Churches).
The current decree will come into immediate force from the moment of publication in the ‘Osservatore Romano’ and is absolute and universal.

Prefect
Angelo Amato, S.D.B.
Titular Archbishop of Sila
Secretary
This quote from the main page of the web site of the group that calls itself “Roman Catholic” Womenpriests, in spite of their open and purposeful break with the authority and teachings of the Roman Pontiff, will give you an idea of how out of touch with reality and any concept of true respect for other religions this group is (see romancatholicwomenpriests.org)
**Response Regarding Excommunication Decree **
Roman Catholic Womenpriests reject the penalty of excommunication issued by the Vatican Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith on May 29, 2008
stating that the “women priests and the bishops who ordain them would be excommunicated latae sententiae.”
Roman Catholic Womenpriests are loyal members of the church who stand in the prophetic tradition of holy obedience to the Spirit’s call
to change an unjust law that discriminates against women.
Our movement is receiving enthusiastic responses on the local, national and international level.
We will continue to serve our beloved church in a renewed priestly ministry that welcomes all to celebrate the sacraments
in inclusive, Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered communities wherever we are called.
This is what Archbishop John Vlazny had to say on the matter. In short, he first opted to remain silent on the matter, out of respect for what he would define as the religious exercises of another religion, but finally had to speak out when the group continued to misrepresent themselves as belonging to the Catholic Church, when by reason of their attempt to ordain of women they have, by definition, chosen to leave the Church:
On Friday, Aug. 17, the Oregonian reported on a religious ceremony at Zion United Church of Christ in Gresham which was described as a Roman Catholic “ordination.” According to the report, we now have the first woman Roman Catholic priest in Oregon.
Most readers, hopefully, were somewhat suspicious about the event when they learned it did not take place in a Catholic church. Out of respect for those involved in the ceremony, I had decided to make no public statement. The Oregonian also said nothing for three weeks.
My main purpose in speaking up now is to assure you that there was no ordination of a Roman Catholic priest at Zion United Church of Christ in Gresham on July 28. Even though Catholics were involved, the claim that it was a Catholic ceremony is wrong but, hopefully, not intentionally disrespectful of a sacrament which we Catholics regard as a precious treasure, one for which we are called to exercise reverent and faithful stewardship.
Our relationships with other churches are sometimes fragile because of differences in beliefs and values. But in all ecumenical relationships Christian churches do their best to respect the diversity in practices and beliefs. I regret the apparent disregard for this understanding.
Any person who claims to have been ordained a Catholic bishop, priest or deacon without the proper authorization from church authorities not only is making a false representation of the facts but also by such an act leaves our church community. We are always saddened when sisters and brothers walk away from us, particularly in this manner. We continue to work and pray for unity in the essentials of our Christian faith and for charity and mutual respect in circumstances where we disagree.
Do not get me wrong. If Rome did teach that such a thing was possible, and if Rome gave permission, I would submit to Rome. The thing is: that is never going to happen. It is impossible. The sooner the adherents of this new religion get this through their heads, and decide which religion they belong to, the better.

As it is, they are not the first ones to make false representations about the Church from within the Church, nor the first to be excommunicated for doing so. As the Archbishop wrote, that is always a sad thing, but it does happen.

Maybe they will come back. If Rome did not stand firm, though, there would be no “there” to come back to.

I know that this is of course invalid and illicit, but who are these people? Did any bishops actually have anything to do with this?
Any bishop who did, does, or decides to in the future is excommunicated automatically (see above), so
no, there are no Roman Catholic bishops having anything to do with this. Any Catholic who does so leaves the Church in the attempt, and may not come back except by the express permission of the Holy See.

This group can call itself the Roman Catholic Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, elect another Pope Joan, buy real estate in Italy, and presume to give itself titular command of every diocese on the planet, if it wants to do that, but it is not a Roman Catholic group.

(Hmmm. Come to think of it, someone did reportedly try that, way back when. I guess there is nothing new under the sun
)

I see that Satan is alive and well. Still trying to destroy the Church of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, This is only one of his latest attempts. Some women are so self-centered and gullible that they listen to Satan without realizing it, just like Eve did in the Garden of Eden. Pray that these women realize what they are doing, ask forgiveness, and return to the Church, contrite.

Also, the congregation is holding out hands to bless the person. I have seen this in some protestant denominations but never in Catholic.

Sad to say some of our more “open minded” “liberal” priests are encouraging them to open the hearts of the faithful.

Yes it all has a protestant tone to it, right down to the “liturgies”. They do not follow the rubrics.

That’s a crucial point these women who claim to be ordained aren’t able to grasp with their flawed judgement: They think it’s someone’s “right” to be a priest. Being a priest has always had everything to do with being a “calling” and not a “right”
even if some of us men in north America don’t apppear to be answering this call as perhaps we should.

In some accounts I’ve read about purportedly "ordained women Catholic priests" , it can become so twisted that they actually believe they have a call to the ministerial priesthood. It’s quite sad. I believe it was the CurĂ© of Ars who said priests are the “happiest of men”. These women could be called *anything but *“happy”.

The first words that come to mind are open defiance . One thing we need to remember, anytime one of us says we “reject” Church law, we are, in effect saying : “I am infallible” (not a very safe place to be).

Actually, allowing priests to marry was never allowed. Rather married men were allowed to become priests. Do you see the difference?
