Romney: I Want Roe Overturned, Will Stop Obama Abortion Funding

Washington, DC – In a weekend interview, presidential candidate Mitt Romney reiterated his pro-life position favoring the reversal of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that has resulted in 55 million abortions on unborn children since 1973.

He will probably come back later and say he doesn’t want it overturned. He sure does like to flip flop. Anyway, overturning roe vs. wade would be a good way to put women seeking abortions in all sorts of danger.

Ever the voice of optimism, are you?

At least they could be arrested for attempted murder. And Obama’s the master of the flip-flop.

… more danger than the children they’re killing faces? At least they have the capacity to make that choice, unlike the being they’re murdering.

Maybe the dangers will make them think twice before killing the child inside of them. Or, maybe it’ll make them think “Hey, I’m afraid of dying. I wonder if the child inside me would tell me it’s afraid of dying.”

This week. And this week he also said he isn’t going to dismantle Obamacare, which is different from previous stump speeches where he said he would abolish it on the first day in office.

Believe what you want, or whatever LifeNews tells you to believe.

That’s not what he said but don’t let anything like facts get in your way.

Romney said, ‘I say we’re going to replace Obamacare. And I’m replacing it with my own plan.’ He has said for a long time that he supports health reform protecting those with pre existing conditions and those under 26 staying on their parents insurance

Your implications that we are unable to make decisions for ourselves is completely unfounded. This is simply stating what Romney has said, nothing more or less. I personally do not trust the man, but I still hope that he will stick to this, because it would be nice to see that travesty of the legal system overturned.

If he’s just saying it to get voted then it’s on his conscience, however, this is a chance that he is being sincere, and that’s enough for me at this point.

This made me lol, thank you.

So, if he’s elected, nothing in this country concerning abortion will change at all.

Okay.

Okay.
Next presient will elect supreme court justices. If Obama is releected he will elect more of the same pro abortion judges who will not reverse roe v wade. Romney will elect judges in line with his view on abortion and the constitution

Things will change if Romney is elected and that is why Planned parenthood are spending more than they ever have on an ad campaign against him

He said he would not “repeal” it. Which he couldn’t have anyway even though he kept saying he would during his campaign. I posted the story and they moved it to the Romney Campaign thread. He will not dismantle or attempt to get Obamacare repealed.

How many Justices are going to resign in the next four years? Will Romney, if elected, be able to get his choice for Supreme Court approved by Congress? No one is overturning Roe v Wade because business doesn’t want it and so, they can talk all they wa nt, but when we had the most Republican controlled government in history under GW Bush, no one touched Roe v Wade.

Not because of Roe v Wade being overturned but because 20% of their funding comes from government grants that can be withdrawn. Someone I know at Planned Parenthood, however, estimated that if a Romney, Tea Party influenced Administration withdrew all that money, their major donors would probably donate twice as much to make up for the loss, which is what they did during the Susan G. Komen debacle.

That’s Obamacare.
You do not need ObamaTax for health reform

This health care proposal covers those with pre existing conditions and is not ObamaTax

Empowering Patients First Act - The Empowering Patients First Act makes the purchase of health care financially feasible for all Americans, covers pre-existing conditions, protects employer-sponsored insurance, and shines light on existing health care plans

I would be happy if Romney said he would take Roe seriously. That is, apply the legal reasoning of Roe to the settled science of our time. That would end abortion because Justice Blackmun stated clearly in Roe that abortion can only be performed when the humanity of the fetus is in doubt (—it no longer is in doubt, at least not by embryologists, whom I see as the “go-to” people here) and that as a matter of established legal understanding, a human being is a person.

Now people want to retain Roe simply because it is a precedent. They don’t want the legal reasoning of the case to influence abortion laws at all. (I’m speaking of pro-choice advocates.) They completely lost the ‘the fetus isn’t a human being’ argument and now they have switched to either a) 'the fetus is a human being but not a person and disregard what Roe said about this subject because we’ve moved beyond that old-fashioned notion of ‘person’ or b) a woman is not free if the government places any restrictions on abortion and it does not matter whether the fetus is a human being or a person. The latter argument is weak—it is an emotional appeal in place of an argument. The former argument is a better one, though it ignores the legal reasoning of Roe as if that is irrelevant to the abortion discussion now.

1st presidential debate in 2000 Bush declared that he would not try to overturn roe v Wade
Before Bush was elected as president, he said that he would support Supreme Court judges who would
