The economy is recovering, jobs are slowly but surely being created, the country still manages to get governed despite a Congress that recently returned to work just so it could send itself on vacation again, and the sky hasn’t fallen in the Middle East…oh - and there are a few less bad guys in the world and a few less nightmares about medical bills bankrupting families… I’d say that’s not a bad scorecard.

Well you are wrong on all accounts but since facts do not matter to the argument, there is no point in going through point by point. As to discussing Obama on a Romney thread, the point is distinguishing the two. People seem to be under the illusion that there is something charitable about taking OPM and distributing it to your cronies who have failing solar energy companies for example. People seem to be under the illusion that ADDING to the food stamp rolls, to TANF, and to Medicaid is an achievement.

People seem to be under the illusion that the Republicans are blocking progress in Congress when Obama had all three branches under his control for two years and still has two. His Senate leader has been blocking bills and budgets for three years. But again when the bar is low, such can be considered an achievement.

You are completely misinformed about the healthcare bill. It would be funny if it were not so sad. People somehow think that because they HAVE to buy a health insurance policy, they are getting free care. Sorry but if you don’t buy the insurance you will not only pay a fine but you will also have to buy it in the end. Then you can take this Medicaid type plan and see how that works out. Just ask anyone on Medicaid. But you’ll have plenty of company to share the misery.

Lisa, Lisa. I don’t know where to begin. With your criticism of the Senate leader while not even mentioning the obstructionist measures from the other side of the aisle or with your assumption that I equate Obamacare with ‘free’ healthcare?

Does the word filibuster mean anything to you? Do you remember pledges from the other side to ensure Obama’s failure…not pledges to ensure America’s success, but specific pledges to ensure the president’s failure?

And no, health care is not free - no one that I know is asking for that. That’s just a canard by people who seem to measure everything valuable in this life is terms of dollars and cents. I do know people on Medicaid, including a cute little grade-schooler whose cancer is now in remission because of it. I don’t knock anything, government-run or not, that values lives over Mammon.

You can cut the preaching. Medicaid values lives over Mammon? Oh please…Medicaid is a government run payer program. It has no morals. The reality is that the child’s cancer was treated by doctors and nurses and hospitals who were willing to take pathetically low rates of pay to help this child. They were the ones valuing the child’s life, not the paper pushers at DHS. That’s a lovely sob story but it doesn’t help the millions whose care is so restricted by a government dictated system that they must simply live in pain and suffering.

As to getting rid of Obama being job one, yes that’s what the opposition hopes just as the Democrats had getting rid of or thwarting President Bush was job one. Why that is such a rallying cry for Democrats only proves they have very short memories and a double standard.

What I see among the Obama apologists is a futile attempt to claim the high road…hiding behind a phrase from the Holy Father that isn’t even on point …but they never address the evil, the corruption, the dishonesty and the failed promises of Obama. As if Romney’s change of heart makes him a less viable candidate for a believing Catholic than Obama’s consistent and frankly horrifying position supporting abortion at any time for any reason, with the Convention clearly throwing out the new demand of taxpayer funding. If anything Obama has become MORE pro-abortion and with his support of infanticide the bar was pretty high. I’ve always wondered why people set more stock in what MIGHT happen than in a long and consistent record of the opposing candidate. Nice try though!

“Pathetically low rates of pay” as compared to grossly inflated ones that force luxury-priced toothbrushes on unsuspecting consumers? I hate to break it to you, but nobody “pushes paper” at Medicaid anymore - not now that Obama has paid small fortunes to medical practices to go electronic (thereby also stimulating the IT industry).

Now patients’ information is better available to all their caregivers, lab results and prescriptions are more efficiently handled, the level of care people receive can be measured by indicators and unnecessary duplication of services or fraudulent billing patterns can be better detected. And that’s just the effect of ONE aspect of Obamacare’s cost-saving benefits.

I suppose you imagine there is a difference in how private companies treat members, as opposed to those you dismiss as “paper pushers”? In my experience, there is no difference. Most of these people are just making a living like the rest of us and in my interactions with them they have been uniformly professional. So even if dismissing people might be modeled in the video which is the topic of this thread, it should not be taken as literal instruction on how to regard people whose roles we take exception to.

Generally speaking, if the point is to convince people to a particular point of view, the way to achieve that is to avoid any impression of being supercilious or condescending…🙂

I never - and I have followed politics quite closely this last decade or so - heard anyone rallying for GWB to FAIL. There is an ocean of difference between wishing for a president to lose an election or to complete his term and wishing for him to FAIL as president.

So…Democrats were rooting for Bush to succeed in all of his policy endeavors? I didn’t realize they supported him that much. :rolleyes:
