I am always amazed at people who find racism in every critique of Obama’s actions. Really you believe this?

What about:
The disastrous economy. NEVER have we had such a stagnation for so long other than the Depression
His massive increase of people in poverty, on food stamps, welfare, Medicaid
The WASTE of BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars on Solyndra, Light Squared etc
His broken campaign promises…the list is LONG
His ATTACKS on religious freedom
His RABID defense of abortion anytime for any reason
A “stimulus package” that spent nearly a trillion dollars and nothing to show for it…even Roosevelt had a lasting impact with building projects

I frankly don’t have enough time to list everything I dislike about the Obama presidency.
I’m not sure what any of his overall incompetence and big government philosophy has to do with his skin color. Maybe you can connect the dots somehow?

Lisa
I connect the dots when I am reading MORE about:
  1. what his mother did and why,
  2. how much his grandparents have or don’t have,
  3. whether he helps his brother in Kenya or not…
THAN I am reading about how he:
  1. saved an economy that was in free-fall using the STIMULUS package that had support from BOTH side of the aisle, while
  2. actually ridding the world of terrorist masterminds (instead of targeting only the small fry).
  3. and increasing access to health care using a plan (Romneycare) and a concept (the individual mandate) which originated with Republicans, showing by example, that you don’t just dismiss ideas because they were not born on your side of the fence…
I could go on, but what’s the point? I don’t know too many details of life in Hawaii or what the schools there are like…

What good are any of these programs to those who are denied the right to life? Whatt good are these programs to your grandchildren if 60% of their income is going to pay off the debt their grandparents ran up? As a Catholic how do you reconcile voting for a man who supports unrestricted taxpayer funded abortion on demand and homosexual marriage with the teachings of the Church?
👍👍👍

Remember Bob, as Hillary said, one has to accept the suspension of disbelief when hearing about Catholics supporting Obama.

And do tell how ANY of the above reflects racism? The comments regarding Stanley Dunham were in response to CMatt who tried to claim that Obama had this miserable upbringing with few opportunities and that his mother was denied healthcare when on her deathbed…cue violins and harps here…

I always think it’s a good idea to introduce the facts.

The STIMULUS did not get any Republican votes.
There is no evidence that the stimulus did anything or that the economy would not have righted itself as quickly if not more quickly (which is exactly what history shows) had we not wasted a trillion dollars
Obamacare gives you an insurance card IF a) you pay for it and b) you don’t mind being on Medicaid. It will NOT give you access to healthcare. Why anyone believes that bit of baloney only means they don’t have much understanding of healthcare delivery in this country.

Again, given my list of criticisms of Obama’s PERFORMANCE not the hue of his skin, can you provide ANY evidence my ODS is a result of racism? I just think he’s ruining the country.

Lisa

That “race and hatred” that Obama mentions is mostly what has been ginned up since he
first started running for president. I was appalled at hearing a top democrat describe him
as “clean” and some other descriptions that would have run a republican out of office
There is legitimate opposition to Obama, his ideas (redistributionalism for one), or his
policies, but the race card is thrown in as the reason. I dislike Obama’s actions, governing, etc., but I don’t hate him, nor do I care about his color. I just don’t want him
leading our country and denying the religious freedom and liberty of my holy church.
A relative of mine is a top democrat “operative” (not meant to be demeaning, that is what
these pr persons are described as) and he is/was very open of the strategies that they
employ, like spreading lies and then “semi” retracting them, knowing that for the most
part the message is successful in smearing the opponent. He laughs about it and says
the republicans can’t do it because no one would print or talk about enough to make an
impact. (Meaning that the MSM would not “run” with it like they do for the democrats.)
I have never met Obama, but I’m pretty sure I could manage to support or oppose him as a presidential candidate without having to suppress seething hatred or without directing such hatred at his opponent.

Very good Lisa, now we’re discussing Obama’s policies. That’s productive. I really don’t know too much about his mother and I’m not particularly interested.

I am a well informed source. The reason Obama is going to lose big is the MM can no longer manipulate public opinion with lies, distortions and half truths. There are too many other places where the truth is readily accessible. Unless one believes that the Democrats turnout in 2012 will exceed Republican turnout by 13% Obama is behind by double digits in nearly every poll. Its not even going to be close.
Behind by double digits in nearly every poll? Mind sharing some of these polls with us? Every poll I see puts Obama ahead in most of the battleground states. It is very difficult to concoct a scenario in which Mitt wins a majority of electoral votes, and that, not the popular vote, is what elects a president.

Just needed to add this: the Stimulus DID get Republican votes, and the funds did get accepted by Republican governors (despite vows to the contrary) and requested by Republican lawmakers…so YES, there was support for it on both sides of the aisle.

Most of the polls are oversampling democrats and using a 2008 turn out model, they are not realistic

Then why did you read the posts related to Stanley Dunham? It amazes me people read something and then complain that they aren’t interested…OK then don’t bother to engage.

I have ALWAYS focused on Obama’s performance when that was the subject. When someone is spreading misinformation about his actual childhood experiences, I just had to mention the facts to balance out the spin.

Lisa, I’m just curious as to where in any of the posts you were accused of racism? Or are you referring to the presumed reason why conservatives in general don’t support Obama?

Not on the Stimulus. There was a previous vote on TARP which was a different program and yes it did get bi-partisan support. Obamacare got NO Republican votes either.

Lisa

Isn’t reading what posts are for? I engage when I see a need - sorry if that bothers anyone.

Not having lived in Hawaii around that time, I can only rely on secondhand information, so no - if I chose to discuss Obama’s upbringing I could hardly call my personal interpretations of what I have read/heard, FACTS.

I have to say that this election, the more I see and hear…the more I agree. So much barely concealed jealousy, simmering anger, thinly disguised personal attacks, obsession with banal trivia and myths…What does any of that have to do with a politician’s ability to do the job for which he is elected?

Fortunately for Obama, the bile and pettiness has exactly the opposite of the intended effect, except among some of those who were never going to vote for him anyway. God bless America and God bless its President.
Seekerz your remark in response to my comment that complaints about Obama are considered “hatred and racism” to which you said “I agree.”

That’s where I got it.

Lisa

Are you saying that the USA TODAY article I linked to is wrong?

No you complained about posts related to Stanley Dunham. Again, if you find this uninteresting why comment? Why engage?

I didn’t live in Hawaii either but having listened to Obama’s own words, read numerous articles, and listened to his biographer yesterday I believe that he a) went to a fancy prep school in Hawaii b) Went to Ivy League colleges and law school c) that his mother’s battle with an insurance company was NOT a health insurance company.

Now maybe this is all someone’s imagination…after all he won’t release his transcripts:D but I tend to believe information that is consistent among various sources and is not disputed by the candidate or his supporters.

I don’t understand what you mean but I did agree with the statement..

It’s pretty clear to most everyone when people have crossed the line from hating what a person does, to hating who a person is…

I hate what he stands for
Abortion
Ignoring the Constitution when it suits him
Big government
Leftism
Redistribution
Cronyism and the Chicago Way of politics
Homosexual agenda

I think he is ruining our country. I’ve seen his policies ruin many lives. You’re right my dislike for this man is intense but it has nothing to do with his skin color. Further I think his supporters claim race to try to shut down an actual conversation on the issues.

I don’t have a problem with you believing what you wish, I’m just intrigued to find multiple and repeated references to Obama’s mom and her family among your posts of the last week or two, on a thread about Romney’s secret video. Forgive me for trying to figure out how the latter is related to the former.

Further I think his supporters claim race to try to shut down an actual conversation on the issues.

Lisa
What actual conversation on which issues?

My first post of this recent series has been trying to disentangle the Obama-Dunham family history from the title of this thread. I’m confused…there must be some relation between the two
