A couple of things: that might make people want to see the movie more.

Second, movie theaters don’t make that much money off of ticket sales. Most of their profits come from concession items. It’s the studios that benefit from movie attendance.
I agree with point one, but not two. The more people in the theater, the bigger the concession sales. If this movie is like the DaVinci Code, it will be laughable and should be simply ignored. I refuse to believe people are that stupid.

I’m sickened and nauseated how ron howard, dan brown and tom hanks keep crucifying the Catholic Church. Those three put together are the real demonic illuminatis. GOD is not pleased!! If anyone wants to join me I’m planning a very peaceful protest outside the theater in Manhattan on May 15.

Imagine that. Imagine the Vatican not letting a bunch of Hollywood bigots have the run of the place.

I’m obviously in the minority here, but I absolutely loved both DaVinci Code and Angels & Demons (the books). I’ve never seen the DaVinci Code movie but it’s not because I was “protesting” the movie - it’s simply because I never got around to it.

I can completely understand why the Vatican didn’t want to open it’s doors to Howard. At the same time, I can also understand why he wanted to make the movie. I’ve always taken the “it’s a story” approach to movies and books. I’m sure that some here think that makes me a “lesser Catholic” but as people often say, “it is what it is.”

Just my two cents.

Poor Ron…trying to blame the Holy See for his problems. He acts like everyone in the world should open their doors just because its a movie with movie stars…blah blah… You want to blame something then blame a bad script and bad hair (did you see Tom hanks hair:eek:).

Angels and Demons wasn’t as bad as the Code but the only part i like of course about how science has lost its morality wouldn’t be in the movie. Someone should of course remind people that his “historical” facts aren’t very good. I mean in the DaVinci code when it was printed in French that they had to re-edit the books because he had the Streets and landmarks in the wrong place etc…

Opie needs to buck up and take it like a man…the little whiner!

I also read both books as well as watched the DaVinci Code. I loved them all! And yes, I am a good cradle Catholic! These books haven’t changed my faith. In fact, they probably increased my faith by causing me to THINK, REFLECT and RESEARCH Catholicism. For those of you planning on protesting, perhaps your time would be better spent doing the same.🙂

I don’t mind being in the minority. I am a big Ron Howard fan and enjoy his movies. Reading comments and reviews here only make me see his films faster. I didn’t read Angels and Demons though. But I am planning on seeing the movie.

I think we must have made news on a Ron Howard fan club site. 😉 Isn’t it great that so many Catholics want to stick up for those that want to discredit Rome?

As Ron Howard himself said about the DaVinci Crud:

“See my movie don’t see my movie it’s a krappy movie” although the term worthy of upsetting the profanity filter is probably even more appropos. I got the book and the movie from the library where my taxes already paid for them. this one is a little less offensive than the other one but, why doesn’t Brown go poison somebody else’s well for a change?
A remark one of the debunkers made about Brown’s truely shoddy research was in regard to the city of Barcelona in Spain, one of Spain’s most modern progressive cities that Brown claimed “the hospitals smelled of urine.” After the mayor of the city read that he offered Brown first class tickets with accompanying first class accomodations to see for himself.

Angels and Demons isn’t even released till Fri…I hae read one review that agree with Ron …It is carp, and so poorly written that it is laughable

People, Angels and Demons is a movie. It’s fiction. It’s based on a novel.

I imagine she would have boxed opie’s ears for being disrespectful and you get the feeling the town was protestant from the series!
If the Italian socialist government with their carabinari police force (read para-military in gucci suits) are standing up for the papacy shouldn’t that give them a clue?
PS Ron aren’t there any better movie projects in Hollywood than this?

I refuse to watch anything made by Ron Howard. And if the Vatican did block him in his efforts to make another horrid movie trashing Holy Mother Church – then that is good news to me.

And Appollo 13 was such a good film. I wonder how Hollywood bigwigs end up like this.

Up until now, I did not know what the big deal with the movie “Angels & Demons” was. Now I know. It is based on a book by Dan Brown, the same guy who authored The Da Vinci Code. No good could possibly come from a book written by that man until he repents of his sins and comes home to Rome.

What upsets me more is that millions of Americans will pay hundreds of millions of dollars to see this thing, and come away believing it is the truth.
