Without said interventions and the crazies have not been satidsified with merely conquering their own people, what is to stop him from beating a path to your door?
Big guns at your door and not at the doors of other countries who should be working on their own big guns.

Good luck with that.

You have way more faith in a system that’s proven itself fatally flawed than I ever will again.

As someone I like to listen to on occasion says, “the new sane is the old insane and the old sane is the new insane”. The center’s moving left, and the Republicans are chasing it left.
Explain to me how electing Ron Paul as President of the United States is going to “change the flawed system?” What exactly is he going to do with his powers other than change foreign policy and cut back on cabinets? From my understanding of our government, the president is limited in his powers, and the system will remain intact. Or, is he planning a revolution?

Congress still controls legislation, and there are plenty of congressmen and women who actually do get their legislation passed.

I’m not going to base my opinions on what other people think.

Something about a 30 year congressman…

I do, it tells me he didn’t go there to make friends.

Not like he ever voted for it. Regarding not making friends and money going to his district he said this:
Indeed. He got pork which he added to bills, but then didn’t vote for. He’s clever. I’ll give him that. And, he was otherwise completely ineffective as a congressmen. Sounds like a great choice for president.

Using non-interventionism and smart trading practices we can easily avoid it all.
Do you actually believe this!!!

We can repay it, but with folks chasing the same old type of politicians and the same old politics it will never get done.
We cannot. The takers will not allow it.

Most people realize that a would be 78-year-old when he enters office, 30-year Congressman who has never been able to get any of his own authored legislation passed, isn’t the best choice for President of the United States. He has some great ideas, but he would be totally ineffective. A president has to work with Congress.
LOL. Congressional gridlock does not really concern me that much. First, we already have it, just two years too late. Second, as a conservative, I do not favor government expansion.

Personally, I’d rather have an imperfect conservative that can get other conservatives to overcome the liberals to move us to the right, rather than the center…
This is one reason abortion is still legal, in my opinion, and will remain legal as long as we perpetuate the current political oligarchy.

Again, I’m not talking about gridlock. The best way for Congress to overcome a veto-everything president is to compromise with middle-of-the-road legislation. Congrats! Ron Paul will drive the country to the center!

Bottomline. He is one man - not a party. The presidency doesn’t have nearly the amount of power that people think it has. He would be a joke.

No doubt. The POTUS we have now “worked” with (11% approval rated) Congress to give us the NDAA.

And, Ron Paul will do what about abortion as President?

Well, if your like everyone else here who considers non interventionism a pacifist, weak policy then no.

But if you look at non interventionism as the true peace through strength policy, which would require a very strong military, then yes.

Interventionism can not bring peace through strength because there never will be any peace. There is always a bad guy to fight, especially when politicians are running around the world ticking people off with the power to intervene in their countries affairs.
We cannot. The takers will not allow it.
I agree at this point in time, in our political environment.

What people have to understand though, if you want to become financial stable again. Our politics are going to have to change, drastically.

Patriot Act, bailouts, Obamacare, NDAA, TSA…

Sure. And, if Ron Paul were there and vetoed it, the Senate had enough to override, and the House was 5 short…which they could possibly get out of the 14 who didn’t vote.

Which they wouldn’t do considering they passed it to begin with.

Other than the fact that most political analysts would keel over if Dr. Paul won, nobody can argue that it wouldn’t show a HUGE change of political direction in this country. Congressmen who wanted to remain in office wouldn’t know what to do, and two years into it we have another chance to make a sweeping change in Congress like we did in 2010.

That makes zero sense. They wouldn’t override a presidential veto because they passed it to begin with?

Yea, I read that wrong. I read fast and type faster, so sometimes I go back and reread things and realize that wasn’t what I meant and have to edit my own posts as soon as I post them.

I do that a lot, too. Our brains just work faster than our eyes and our fingers, that’s all. 😃
