And don’t forget lend-lease. We were arming the allies exclusively which is a big no-no when it comes to being neutral.

Actually, a LOT of things preceded Pearl Harbor.

Japan’s invasion of China, Manchuria and Korea … 1932 … caused a LOT of ill-feeling, to say the least.

DuPont’s invention of nylon … which replaced silk as the fabric of choice for women’s stockings. AND deprived Japan of the foreign exchange they needed to buy oil.

Don’t forget, an embargo by the United States was almost meaningless, really. The closest petroleum to Japan was in the Dutch East Indies … now Indonesia.

Great Britain had a very effective espionage ring in the United States; they were very persuasive in getting the United States to enter both WWI and WWII. In fact, there was just recently an obituary of one of their agents who was instrumental in getting the U.S. to enter WWII.

The Soviet Union actually had TWO air bases inside the United States: Newark Airport, right outside Manhattan; and, Malmstrom AFB in Montana. They were used as jumping off points for military shipments to the USSR. Read: “From Major Jordan’s Diaries”. It’s out of print, but it is available on-line as a “samasdat” publication. Look it up and print it out and read it.

It will blow your socks off.

Tell me, when does this ‘war’ end? Where do we plant our flag? Whose neck do we put our foot on (as the ancient Romans did)? When do bring our young men home? When do we stop sending drones to kill people in countries we are not at war with? Killing American citizens without trial? When does the TSA get dismantled? Oh, and those Americans detained under the Defense Authorization Act, when do they get a trial? For how long do we detain them?
How much of the freedoms you enjoy have to be sacrificed before you scream enough?
How long do you think the neo-cons in Washington, in both parties, can wage war and kill people anywhere in the world, before the world screams enough?

A couple years ago I asked similar questions to a gung-ho kid who could’nt wait to finish school so he could join the army and “kick some Afgan butt”.
He couldn’t answer it either.
After OBL was killed I asked a neo-con friend of mine: “I guess we can bring our troops home now, right?”
“Oh no,” he said. “there’s a lot more work to do.”

Your strung together questions were not answered because of your previous behavior, which I’ve already admonished you for. In the future, besides not making personal attacks against people you don’t even know I would also suggest you keep your questions down to one or two. I’ve been able to participate in this debate because I’m at home this weekend and we’re doing spring cleaning a little early. I cant stay on here continuously so I also wont respond in an instant. In the meantime I would suggest instead of engaging either myself or someone else with such a list of questions to that seems only to instigate instead of debate that you take some time and post your own ideas on the subject at hand. Don’t poo on someone else ideas when you don’t put out your own for criticism. Now I’ve been as charitable as I can with you. God bless you.

And look at the state that they’re in compared to when they did trade with the US. Apparently trade with the leading economic superpower is a big deal.

This is what I was referring to.

I read it as putting America before our Catholicity.
I’m not gonna get into online arguments.

Well, we do not trade with North Korea and they are a basket case.

But, on the other hand, we DO trade with Haiti … and they also are a basket case … so I sort of get the feeling that there just might be some other factor(s) involved.

Haiti is on the island of Hispaniola … the other half of the island is taken up by the Dominican Republic and they are doing just fine.

So, what’s the difference between Haiti and the Dominican Republic? Why is one a basket case and the other doing just fine?
