I watched Jericho, I know what will happen. šŸ˜‰

In case of an EMP attack, other countries will be the least of our worries. Better focus on those who are unable to fend for themselves. They will form gangs and the strong will take from the weak. Civilization is a very thin veneer.
no, no, no …

But you haven’t demonstrated the facts to be incorrect nor have you demonstrated that Buchanan’s argument based on those facts to be flawed.

Again, you need to demonstrate either that Hoover has his facts wrong or that his argument based on those facts is fallacious. Responding with ad hominems is not a logically valid or very Christian response.

Utterly false. Hoover demonstrates with primary source material the communications between the US and Japan prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The historical record that Hoover documents proves that in the months leading up to Pearl Harbor, Konoye was hell-bent on AVOIDING a conflict.

Every nation ā€œexpandsā€ their search for natural resources. Japan was an island nation with limited resources. Of course she would ā€œexpand.ā€ She was doing what every western nation had done before her.

Hoover told the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts.
  1. The facts speak for themselves … Japan attacked INDIA! Which is just a little bit too far, don’tcha think? If they wanted oil, they could have stopped at the Dutch East Indies! Indonesia. All the oil in the world. And with Malaya they would have also controlled the Straits of Malacca. One of the MAJOR choke points. Absolutely no need to invade India, … unless they meant to link up with Germany coming around the other way. But the Germans got held up at the Pass. Well, not at the ā€œpassā€ … but El Alamein is only 150 miles from Cairo. Very close. Almost cut the world in half.
  2. Don’t need a two.
Kind of like a bridge too far. In this case a sub-continent too far.

All they needed was one tiny linkup.

Well, two … two tiny linkups.

And they just missed, but not by much.

I guess I am also in another small group of voters that had him deliver a child (my oldest son).

I don’t support Dr. Paul although I would if he becomes the GOP nominee. I relate and applaud his domestic policy, but taking a hands-off position for foreign policy is very disturbing. People that want to watch the world burn are not like bees in that if you leave them alone they will leave you alone!

Having said this, I would be willing to take my chances with Dr. Paul as opposed to someone who seems intent on just handing the country over to those who are not of this country. šŸ™‚

So when China comes over here and takes out the president, we just ask them to leave the country? Wouldn’t you expect just a little bit of animosity?
I have no idea where you are going here. My post had nothing to do with China or sitting on our hands when another country commits gross violations against our country. You are not on my page …or something:shrug:

This is NOT his position. It’s the position his detractors want you to believe. His position is that war should be a last resort, if all other options have been exhausted. (sounds very Catholic!) And, if war is to happen, it must be debated and approved in Congress. Then, it would be… get the job done and get out. Not endless war with no end in sight, sucking the American people dry.

I’m a Catholic college student attending the University of Washington and both as a Catholic and American citizen, find a lot of what he supports appealing in ways I’ve explained in other posts.

I forgot exactly how I became a supporter. Part of it was Tom Woods being the author of How The Catholic Church Built Western Civilization leading to me reading Meltdown

I’d like someone to explain to me how Ron Paul can overcome the liberal media’s success in seducing the American public into believing that higher taxes for more safety nets (which are only creating weaker, more dependent voters) is more important than taking personal responsibility for one’s decisions. Ron Paul is pretty much the opposite. How can he rise above the messages from the Americans’ lord and savior, the media? Are American voters intelligent enough to see that the current system is only creating more weak, dependent people? I doubt it.

I don’t like Ron Paul, because I think he’s crazy? 🤷

I’d much rather vote for a conservative catholic like Santorum or Gingrich.

Another homeschooling father who supports Ron Paul…I also consider myself a constitutionalist. šŸ‘

At one time Japan was so powerful and ruled over all China brutally and cruelly. They are now trapped in their limited quake prone islands but could never use their might or intelligence to discover and occupy Australia which is so near. God chose to reveal Australia and America to others. You must ponder over these historical truths. Also read and know of Japan’s crimes against humanity during and before WW-II.

This sounds like crazy talk. What exactly is you point?

I have heard him talk many times, and military force as a last resort is many times too late. Iran should NOT have a nuclear weapon under ANY circumstances. Then we have Kim Jung Un to deal with. Paul is very clear on a hands-off policy…We shoudn’t be over there…we’ve got no business interfering with other country’s efforts to do whatever. Although I like the idea of if we go to war we go in take them out and come home! I even applaud that, but sending our guys and gals in after the bad guys (from our POV) has already come up to speed is not smart tactics. If we wait until we are attacked or one of our allies, that means we have allowed the enemy to gain full strength and a tactical advantage. The world is too dangerous for this kind of thinking. I watch this guy every time he is on some show talking about his policies…he is scary…foreign policy speaking!

Dr. Paul is very articulate. He also is very friendly. He engages debate and can be civil even with those he disagrees with on a lot of things. All those help in getting his message out.

When I first heard of him last go around, I thought he was well…crazy. I was especially concerned about his foreign policy. The more debates I watched and the more I learned about the candidates an interesting thing happend…I liked Paul more as I learned more about him, and I like everyone else less as I learned more about them. I got Paul’s book ā€œManifestoā€ from the library and read it. At that point I decided he wasn’t crazy, and I had been wrong about a number of things including my outlook on foreign policy. There is nothing conservative or constitutional about the militarism advanced both by neocons and liberals.

As like to put it: When other republicans talk about getting back to the roots of our country they mean Ronald Reagan and George Bush Sr. When Dr. Paul says it he means George Washington and James Madison.

Now that doesn’t mean that there aren’t issues with the philosophy of Washington, Madison, etc. This country was very much founded in the spirit of the so-called Enlightenment. It’s never been a Catholic country. It started off as a Protestant one with a very heavy Masonic influence and has become a pagan one. As a Catholic, Paul’s agenda is not an end. It’s a means to establishing an authentically Catholic culture in our nation.

If you were a Muslim or Jewish Iranian citizen today, America just helped drop the value of the total amount of money in your pocket by 12 percent. On top of that, Obama just signed sanctions that may cause your cost of living to go up. On top of that, the Iranian media is going to make sure you know that the reason life just got even tougher was because of the Americans.

I don’t know about you, but if I were Iran and I came across a nuke I would look for the the most important American target I could find and I would order the United States to lift it’s sanctions or else. Even some Israeli officials agree that this is a normal course of action and would do the same in their shoes.

As an American citizen, if China had the economic and military power to sanction us into a behavior they demand, how would you react?

I’ll take this crazy guy any day over any other politician in office.
I decided to run for Congress because of the disaster of wage and price controls imposed by the Nixon administration in 1971. When the stock market responded euphorically to the imposition of these controls and the closing of the gold window, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and many other big business groups gave enthusiastic
support, I decided that someone in politics had to condemn the controls, and offer the alternative that could explain the past and give hope for the future: the Austrian economists’ defense of the free market.
At the time I was convinced, like Ludwig von Mises, that no one could succeed in politics without serving the special interests of some politically powerful pressure group.
Although I was eventually elected, in terms of a conventional political career with real Washington impact, he was absolutely right. I have not developed legislative influence with the leadership of the Congress or the administration. Monies are deliberately deleted from routine water works bills for my district because I do not condone the
system, nor vote for any of the appropriations.
My influence, such as it is, comes only by educating others about the rightness of the free market. The majority of the voters in my district have approved, as have those familiar with free-market economics. And voters in other districts, encouraged by my speaking out for freedom and sound money, influence their representatives in the
direction of a free market. My influence comes through education, not the usual techniques of a politician. But the more usual politicians in Congress will hardly solve our problems. Americans need a better understanding of Austrian economics. Only then will politicians become more statesmanlike.

I recommend reading the whole thing.

Hi All,

I always resisted posting anything about War and the USA here in CAF. Now since I have been reading quite a bit about what people say about the next US Presidential elections I am compelled to just to bring out what i think about US Attitudes towards war. Forgive me if I am little too outspoken.

1-You guys talk about war so often as if it is a video game.
2-NONE OF YOU EVER EXPERIENCED WHAT HAPPENS IN A WAR.
3-WHAT YOU SEE IN CNN AND FOX NEWS ABOUT THE WAR THAT USA ENGAGE IN ARE CUSTOM MADE NEWS FOR AMERICAN PUBLIC.
4-America is no more in threat than Iran, India, Pakistan,Russia, France, China , England…in fact any other country.
5-War is pure business for USA , in fact that is the only business USA currently has.
6-You think war is some heroic action by USA.

Friends in USA, let me say this openly, you have never been attacked, violated or even challenged so much as to engage in destructive and deadly wars for decades. If you ever had faced a real war or faced the ruin, atrocities and lawlessness that happen during the war you will think 10000 times before even utter the word war.

Stop being so ignorant and violent. What can make you realize what a WAR IS ?

Let no one fool you by saying that your existence is depended on the destruction of rest of the world.

Really, God help America.

With prayers,
Joe

That’s fine and good, but I don’t see substance, just air. At least I see substance in voting records for the two catholics. Plus, the many times I’ve seen him on TV, I thought he seemed a bit arrogant for my taste.

Paul has been in congress for awhile, so if you want to see his voting record you can go ahead and check. He’s also still in Congress, which means he has been voting on the issues of the day for the past several years, unlike Santorum or Gingrich, who because they are no longer legislators, can comment on what they would have done, but haven’t actually had to cast votes one way or the other for some time.

That said, I don’t think one needs to be in government in order to run for President.
