I’m catholic school of economics. Which consists on speculating on how we can bring back the glory of the middle ages in catholic Europe with somehow leaving the middle age health care behind. I live in a fantasy world. I can respect the fact that the Episcopalians were too liberal for him but I think he really would have a hard time being catholic when he is supposed to be obedient to a thing called the magisterium and sacred tradition. Libertarianism really is focused on the individual where catholicism is focused on relationships. We are by nature social animals.
You assume that Libertarians are somehow against interdependent relationships. You’re wrong. Libertarianism is about the principle of non-aggression and the belief that the initiation of violence, even government sponsored violence, against people and their property is always wrong.

That’s why I’m voting for Ron Paul. I think that fits much better with the catholic teaching on dialogue and international intervention rather than war. As Ron Paul said, the golden rule is what should be our foreign policy and not pre-emptive war.

What depresses me is how talk radio and the GOP have brainwashed millions of good intentioned people that taxing the middle classes more than the rich is a good thing or that deregulation of Wall Street is for common good. Catholic social encyclicals always support subsidiarity and locally owned businesses rather than mega-stores and giant corporations who are only beholden to their board holders.

Even if you don’t agree w/ Dr Paul I’d suggest that our leaders never even bother to imagine, much less consider that other countries have their own interests. We’re America, so we’re right, goddammit!!!

Here’s anachronistic example; what if Maggie Thatcher had sent predator drones to kill Americans in New York and Boston because they raising funds for the Provos? Of course, the drone takes out not just the car the target is in but his family and several bystanders – but, hey, you can’t nail a high-value target without some collateral damage.

its more then just bombing its building bases in foreign land. its building an embassy larger then the vatican in iraq and if you don’t think our country isn’t bombing middle eastern countries, then you haven’t been watching the news. terrorist don’t attack us because we are free. they attack us because we are over there. Its called blowback the CIA supports the theory a lot.
How many military bases do we have in Germany?

After 60+ year of “occupation”, how many Germans have flown 747s into our skyscrapers?

Paul buys into the Islamist line that they are justified in attacking US civillians.

The middle class is NOT taxed more the Rich. The top 24% of earners pay 84% of all Federal income taxes. 47% pay no federal income taxes at all.

It’s sad that some Catholics have been brainwashed to believe the politics of envy.

I’m using “middle class” and “rich” loosely. I’m saying that those in the top tax bracket (middle class to me) pay way more in taxes than the multi-millionaires who’s main income is not salary like for most of us but from investments (capital gains) which are taxed at 15%. Romney and Buffet agree. Yet all of the GOP see nothing wrong with this fact and want to roll these taxes back in many cases.

But they dont. You are confusing (as many do) marginal rates with effective rates. the “rich” pay a much higher effective rate than the middle class do-in fact about 3 times as much.

Republicans buy into the neoconservative propaganda that Islamists are attacking us because of our freedom and decadence. 🤷

Of course, income tax rate starts to fall again at the very top of the top 0.1%. The 400 top earners in America, for instance, had an average effective tax rate of 18% in 2009. That’s because the super-rich, like Buffett and Romney, derive more of their income from investments rather than salaries. Capital gains and dividends are taxed at 15% rather than the top rate for ordinary income of 35%.
As I said, the rich (uber-rich) pay less.

And the middle class have an effective tax rate of under 6% You dont set tax policy based on the tax situation of 400 americans out of 300 million. you have bought into class envy argument5 hook line and sinker. When 47% pay NO federal inocme tax at all, the top 25% pay 84% of all income tax it simply is not possble to make the claim that the tax system “favors” the rich

In just a couple short hours four of the five remaining Republican presidential candidates will participate in the first ever Presidential Prolife Forum, televised beginning at 6:45p EST on C-SPAN and sponsored by Personhood USA.

Everyone in the nation, along with a standing room only crowd at the Hilton Ballroom in Greenville, South Carolina, will get to see pro-lifers Lila Rose, Daniel Becker, and Gualberto Garcia Jones interview GOP candidates Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum.

The only candidate not present will be Mitt Romney, who reportedly had a scheduling conflict.

You can also watch the event live-streamed here:

Fox and CNN also plan to report from the event live.

They are the richest and the most powerful in our country. They make the rules as we have the best government money can buy. Besides, that’s just what a WSJ blogger said. I would bet the number is more than 400.

That’s because their 24% is much larger in dollars and cents than those of middle and low incomes…

Mitt Romney just disclosed his tax returns and it shows that he only paid 15% on his multiple-millions, and to top that he tucked away millions in banks in the Cayman Islands to avoid taxes. Romney plays it like an estute Wall Street banker. He is establishment all the way and will do nothing but continue Obama’s legacy, less a few decibals. He has the most contributions from Wall Street, no surprises there. He owns houses in Aspen and all over the place, worth millions and is the CEO of Marriott Corporation, yet he steps down from that position every time he runs in an election. He is personal friends with the CEO of one of the largest private banks in Florida, who not only does his banking for Marriott but is also a huge supporter, both financially and personally. I know this first hand. The other personal friends of this banker, and one that sits on his board of directors, is Jeb Bush. If you fear another Bush administration, then run, dont walk away from Romney. If not, then he’s your man and we will probably engage in more oil raids and ruler toppling all over the world, at the cost of thousands of our children and billions of tax dollars to support this aggressive nation building mindset.

My vote has been for Ron Paul since the 2008 election. I think he has a huge shot at the presidency. His support grows as people take the time to bypass the lying media and do their own research on this stellar candidate and human being.

Our last chance at saving a very corrupted nation.

As a Catholic, I don’t like Ron Paul for the following reasons:

1: Legalizing drugs, not anywhere near in line with Catholic teaching. Instead of buying the votes of drug abusers Ron Paul as a doctor should preach just say no and promote treatment.

2: I agree that pulling out of islamic countries needs to be considered, but not everyone in Islamic countries is Islamic where we are ignoring the needs of fellow christians if we just leave and turn a blind eye to evil. Isolate yourself from extremists, there is no proof that that will deradicalize them. The problem has been that the world hasn’t been willing to do enough in a united front to address extremism. Politics, Americans are tired of war, are starting to overpower sound strategic judgement. Americas interest as a blessed nation is to protect the powerless and oppressed whether they are in Iran or elsewhere. If we don’t reach into troubled nations to help those in need, should God help us?

3: If Ron Paul thinks we need to go back to the gold standard or something like that, he needs to realize how impossible that is and he needs to read on the money, “In God We Trust.” I question Ron Paul’s economic wisdom.

4: Ron Paul is turning Romney into a winner, I don’t like Romney, by taking votes away from Rick Santorum. Romney was pro choice at one point, so I do not trust him at all. Romney is pulling an Obama by being the “difference” that nobody knows anything about.

Ron Paul is too radical and Romney is dangerous, please tell your friends and others that there is a better choice. It would be a shame to have to put up with Obama for four more years. I’m so afraid that people will trust Obama more than Romney. I prefer not to vote for Romney, but if he gets nominated, I guess I’ll have to.

The Church doesn’t say that drugs must be illegal, and Ron Paul does advocate “just say no” and promotes treatment. The current laws hinder treatment, and that’s part of the problem.

Peace and God bless!

There is no better choice. As a Catholic, Ron Paul is the only person I could tolerate in the White House. I know he is radical. He is a firm believer in the Constitution, a concept that is foreign to politicians of both parties…scratch that…foreign to nearly all Republican and Democrats.
