A Momentous Event

This morning, on the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the humble Oratory of our monastery was the setting of a momentous event. His Excellency, Bishop Edward J. Slattery was with us for the canonical establishment of the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope as a Public Association of the Faithful, in view of their becoming an Institute of Consecrated Life.

Foundress, Rosalind Moss, in religion Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God received the traditional Benedictine habit, given that the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope have begun to follow the age-old Rule of Saint Benedict….

I[Bishop Slattery] appoint Rosalind Moss, in religion, Mother Miriam of the Lamb of God, prioress of the Community, and authorize the opening of their residence in the Diocese of Tulsa as the Priory of Our Lady of Guadalupe….The new Priory of Our Lady of Guadalupe is located within Saints Peter and Paul Parish.

to contact other bishops who
may wish our charism.”

Then-Sister Rosalind Moss was explaining how St. Louis, the “Rome of the West,” booted her order of nuns. Tulsa took her and her sisters in, to the sisters’ extreme financial detriment; and great good fortune, as St. Louis is so inimical to…I don’t know how to say it charitably. I’m grateful to God that this turn of events occurred and will pray and work for the sisters to be made whole.

Nordkoven, if you were the bishop it would be your call but since you are not it is Bishop Carlson’s call as shepherd of the diocese. About this matter Sr Miriam has said:

it is the will of God. And I would add that often, as we seek to give our lives to God and to serve Him, many things may occur that are grievous. Such is the case here. But, in my heart, I certainly respect Archbishop Carlson as bishop, in his office, and I ask everyone’s prayers for him. I trust that God has allowed what He has, and the bottom line is His will, which as I said is my food.
