I began making rosaries about a year ago.

I use semi-precious stones, glass, metal or natural wood beads. Bronze, gold-colored or silver-colored crucifixes and centers. Most have the traditional five decade layout.

I also produce a rosary-like arrangement that is used as a training aid by new EF altar servers. These have additional beads for PSALM-42, CONFITEOR, GLORIA, and SANCTUS at the beginning of each decade.

My private rosary is always prayed in Latin.

Amen to that! I always pray the rosary in Latin unless someone else is leading it and they choose some other language. But of course if I don’t speak their language, I will say the responses in Latin

Anyone have a favorite rosary or collect them? I know I have about 20 or so and I was wondering if anyone else shares my passion for rosaries.

I have rosaries the way some people have mice or wire coat hangers, they just collect and have babies. I try to get rid of them as quickly as possible for evangelization purposes, but I was able to scrape up 17 quickly for our meeting last week, just in 3 rooms, probably a few more in the car, garage, spare rooms etc. my favorite, the one by my bed is a silver one from Monterrey, the one I like to carry walking in the a.m. is a wooden one with big beads I can feel when my hands are stiff. I like a wooden cord rosary for my purse because it does not tangle or break. These are sold by itinerant people all over town on both sides of the border for $5 or less so I have the most of these.

Our parish rosary maker guild made (at their own expense) 2500 rosaries to give away last year. 1000 to parishioner, 1000 to Mexico, more to those who come into the parish for assistance of some kind.

I love the Job’s tears rosary pictured above and usually have one or more, because catalog says it is the design that Mother Teresa preferred, but it is a good weight and comfortable to use (huge factor nowdays).

Does anyone see anything feminine about this rosary? The website I found the picture off of says it’s for women.

Ok I found the glow in the dark rosary I was talking about here. Apparently you can still get them today!

The rosary I use the most is a dark blue rosary my grandma gave me, from Mexico. It has blue, hand-painted square-ish wooden beads and the crucifix features one of those little glass eye peep-holes. Yall know what I’m talking about? It’s just a tiny circle of glass, but if you put it up to your eye you’ll see an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

hehe…sometimes I wonder if they breed…even the ones that I don’t make seem to show up all the time in my home…lol They just seem to multiply like rabbits sometimes…lol

I’m STILL finding them even now. I told this to a Catholic friend and she actually got offended about the idea of rosaries breeding. “Rosaries don’t have sex Rusty! That is insulting to Catholicism!”

Nice to know a few Trads have the same feelings.

I only have 3 at the moment. Two of those three are rather special.

I’ve one that appears to be mostly pearl, and was given to me by my now deceased mother after my first communion.

The other one that I’m rather fond of is made of amethyst, and is from the Vatican, and was blessed with holy water from St. Peter’s.
