Hi all,

I have developed a recent meditation practice while praying the Rosary. I am normally not scrupulous, but I fear this recent practice might be blasphemous, so I wanted to run it by you.

When contemplating and praying the Sorrowful Mysteries, I sometimes imagine that I share Our Lord’s pain on the cross, in the garden, and so on. I seek to share in his agony, as a form of atonement during the Rosary.

Should I stop this form of meditation during the Rosary?

Thanks.

Fatima blue army requires the meditation. It is a highly regarded devotion, for it supposes that the compendium of the Gospel is expressed.

No, I think we’re supposed to unite our sufferings with His.
God bless friend.

I’ve done the opposite where I imagine I cause hHis pain in the garden, I flog Him, I push the crown of thorns on Him, I follow Him carrying His cross and I nail Him to the cross.

I actually cried during that Rosary.

We are members of His body writes Saint Paul. Thus, we share in His suffering, for we cannot separate ourselves from Him. Paul, in his own sufferings, made up for what was lacking in the sufferings of Christ. Peter and John rejoiced for being made to suffer for the Name. Yet, it is also quite fruitful to imagine inflicting the wounds on His Body, as it is our sins that did so. This points out that our sins, which harm Jesus’ Body, also harm us, as we are parts of that same Body. Can we fully grasp this? Not in this lifetime.

I can’t think of any other way to meditate on those particular mysteries. I always felt they expose exactly how horrible humanity can be while simultaneosly how gloriously forgiving our Lord is!
