Bogotá, Jul 9, 2008 / 01:00 pm (CNA).- The recitation of the Rosary has become, for an increasing number of Colombians, the secret behind the new phase the country is entering. Many Colombians also view** the Rosary as the “secret weapon” **that made the recent rescuing of 15 hostages possible - without a single shot fired.

According to Lidia Rios, spokeswoman for the Legion of Mary in Medellin, thousands of Colombians have been praying the Rosary for years for the release of the numerous hostages being held by rebel groups.

“We have prayed a lot to the Lord and to the Blessed Mother that this rescue would be successful, and we are not going to stop now. We are and will continue praying for this intention,” Rios told CNA in reaction to statements by President Uribe, who said shortly after the rescue that the operation** “was guided in every way by the light of the Holy Spirit, the protection of our Lord and the Virgin Mary.”**

As St. Pio always said, “The Rosary is the Weapon!!”👍
Praise God !! Thank you Blessed Mother:signofcross:

Awesome! 🙂 👍

I’m especially interested because I recently became a godmother to a child adopted from Colombia. 🙂

I have no doubt that prayers (including the rosary) played an important part in the rescue going successfully. The rosary is a powerful weapon and is one that I should use more often. :o:thumbsup:

Thank you for posting this, The Rosary is a very powerful pray and Our Blessed Mother does here! Thank you Our Lady,

“Say the Rosary every day…
Pray, pray a lot and offer sacrifices for sinners…
I’m Our Lady of the Rosary.
Only I will be able to help you.
…In the end My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”

Our Lady at Fatima
👍 Pray the Rosary!

Do you think if strangers hadn’t prayed the Rosary that the hostages would have been killed?

Why would God have only saved the hostages because some strangers prayed for them?

Wouldn’t an all loving and all Good God have saved the hostages, regardless if strangers prayed for their safe release or not?

The problem is that you’re looking at the Rosary (or any prayer) in that situation as a magic formula where God will only act if we pray it. He is not a genie and is not bound by our prayers or lack of prayers.

He just wants us to have faith in him and pray without ceasing. Sometimes what we pray for comes to pass, sometimes it doesn’t. Abraham tried to pray to God to spare Sodom because his nephew was living there. Instead, God sent angels to get Lot and his family out of there before the city was destroyed.
