Hello all,
Just a quick explanation about myself and where this question comes from is that I’m in the process of converting to Catholicism, and right now reading up and learning as much as I can.
Right now I’m learning the Rosary and how to pray.
Now, onto my question… I have this “Catholicism for beginners” type book which covers all or most of the basics, and I’m on the part about the Rosary. It teaches what prayers to say and when, and one of the prayers being the ‘Glory Be’.
However, how they have it written in the book, the middle of the prayer is written like this:
“as it was, is now, and ever shall be”
Every other source I’ve seen, from television to the internet has it as:
“as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be”
Is there a right one, or is it just matter of preference? I’ve practiced the book version so much now I’ve grown sort of fond of the shorter version, but if it’s incorrect I got to change.
Please help

As a convert myself, I totally understand how challenging it can be to find the most common version of a traditional prayer. And once you memorize a prayer, it can be quite the challenge to “fix” it in your head, so it’s always best to learn it right the first time.
