And the same goes for Moore. The number of accusers, the fact that they are not hiding behind a cloak of anonymity, that there are other accounts that Moore’s predilections were not only known, but had to be dealt with to keep highschool girls safe, that makes me feel absolutely confident in saying Roy Moore molested teenage girls.
Well, don’t forget Moore’s comments. First he didn’t date teenaged girls, then he might have, but he asked for the mother’s permission, he didn’t know them, etc. You can’t really trust anything out of his mouth.

Apparently the age of consent in Alabama is 16, and it looks like the romeo and juliet clause would cover a 16 year old having consensual sex with a 14 year old, but not a 21 year old with a 14 year old.

If Moore is elected, I’m curious if the GOP-controlled Senate will actually refuse to seat him, as they’ve threatened. If Moore wins and he is seated as a senator, he will be a noose around the neck of the GOP for years to come.

If Moore wins, I’m also curious what the blowback will be from corporate America against the state of Alabama.

Perhaps the voters of Alabama don’t care what the rest of the country thinks, but do they really want to be known as the state that elected a child sexual predator?

I’ve been reading that expelling or refusing to seat Moore could be legally problematic, and it’s likely to expel him properly would likely take a two-thirds majority in the Senate, so I’m thinking that while the GOP will make great noises about his unsuitability for office, if he wins, they’ll find some way to make their peace with him. Maybe they’ll deny him a seat at committees or refuse to caucus with him, but the fact is if they try to get rid of him, it will be an agonizing process that will probably do the Republicans more harm than just putting up with him, and hoping he at least sides with him on their key legislation. For the Republicans, there really are no good options here.

I was thinking the deal would be for him to resign, so the Gov can appoint someone.

With his spokesman having resigned, I think Moore’s candidacy is becoming untenable. The problem being that if he refuses to bow out of the race, and presuming he wins, why would he resign? If the good of the party meant anything to Moore, he would have been gone a week ago.

I’m not saying those women are lying but one would think after 40 years and suddenly when an election is at stake… are people ready to hear accusations against EVERY politician EVER going to run again? because it gonna happen. And not trying to be suspect at every turn but there are women who target the rich and famous, you know, to get rich and famous.

Remember Joseph in the OT? sold to Egypt, became top dog? Wife wanted him, he said no, she accused him and held his coat in her hand? Joseph thrown in jail for YEARS???

It happens. I’m just saying we need to be very careful. Look at what opposition research has gotten us already this election cycle… it’s sad, but some people will stop at nothing to get what they want…
😟

I’m not saying these woman are lying, but then I’ll spend the rest of the post suggesting they are lying.

You could literally say that of many of the victims coming forward in any of the Weinstein/Cosby Era scandals, and it’s exactly this kind of excuse that Cosby’s PR and legal teams have floated, and I don’t buy it. These women in all these cases have willingly put themselves in legal jeopardy by making those accusations publicly. If the Cosbys, Weinsteins, and yes, Roy Moores of the world feel they have been unjustifiably accused, they have civil remedies at their disposal.

Some times even less significant allegations derail political carriers. Past drug use used to be considered something undesirable. I remember hearing ol politicians dropping out of races for having a past of employing people and paying them under the table.

But allegations of these type are serious. He should step down.

Well, I can understand not stepping down if he’s innocent, but who really believes that? Not even his own party.

I can’t even understand it then. If you’re innocent, but you’re doing damage to your party, particularly at the national level (irrespective of what’s going down in your own state), then, if you’re actually a sincere member of your party, you do the right thing and step away from your campaign. What’s clear here is that Moore has no particular loyalty to the Republicans, and even other Republicans are concerned as to how reliable he will be in supporting the GOP’s agenda when he gets to the Senate. This is the Bannon Strategy, to basically destroy the GOP we know and replace it with a pack of Roy Moores.

Well, yeah, but like you said, he’s not a sincere member of his party.

The Republicans have created a monster they can’t control.

I think the guy needs to step down. The accusers seem pretty credible to me. If Moore truly is innocent then he should take these people to court for defamation. If what he says is true it shouldn’t be to hard to prove.

I said “many”, not “most”, and not “all”.

Where is the party leader on this issue?
Leader of the Republican party? Is there one? Should be the President, but he’s an anti-establishment guy who is loathed by the establishment Republicans.

So I guess you could call Mitch McConnell the “party leader” on this issue…pretty sure he said he should step down.

Petra is just wise enough to realize that nobody here KNOWS what happened.

Moore may have done everything he has been accused of, and worse.

Moore may not have done ANY of those things.

It’s up to the voters to decide.

This is just another example of how our terribly biased media is damaging our country. So many of us no longer believe the media to do their job in an unbiased, honest way.

How exactly is the media reporting on someone who attempted to assault a 14-year-old girl damaging our country? What’s damaging the country are people who believe any report that is negative towards their favorite politician is fake news and made up and then they will go to the forums claiming that the media is bias. It’s not the media’s fault that you are choosing to not believe them because you’ve been fed a diet full of right wing bias; it’s your fault.

Try to keep up, and try to stop inserting things into what I said.

I never said the media is damaging our country by reporting on this.

I said this (meaning this SITUATION) is another example of how our terribly biased media is damaging our country. BECAUSE the media is so incredibly biased people don’t necessarily believe them when they report on important things.

That’s not because I’ve been "fed a diet full of right wing bias, it’s because I can see the bias inherent in most all of our media today. Here’s just the latest example: http://www.foxnews.com/entertainmen...ral-agenda-with-billionaire-george-soros.html

The media has reported a story about nine women, giving their real names, were sexually assaulted by this man. The press is doing its.job, and if it embarrasses your political party, that’s really your problem.
