Surprised they don’t use the Good News Bible for their liturgical books.
Flag!! What is this? My daughter received a “Good news” bible from her ccd classes.

I keep a close eye on what my kids watch on TV and what friends they hang out with. Do I have to be cautious of what they are distributing in formation classes?

I’d appreciate some feedback.

The Good News Bible isn’t actually a Bible translation. It is a paraphrase of the Bible. Although it may be easier for kids to read I know I would have a big problem if the RE people at my parish were giving it out to kids.

The “Good News Bible” is nearly as popular today as it used to be. I bought one, The Catholic Study Edition, for reading many years ago. It’s nice if you want to get the “feel” of scripture, but it is not the best for deep study, being a paraphrase. On the other hand, it’s not so bad that anyone should get upset about it, either.

Yes, you do. Very unfortunate, but necessary with regards to today’s CCD classes.
