It doesn’t say “in so many words” that you shouldn’t “worship” on Sunday. “in so many words” just means you reading between the lines words that are not there). It says there is no Biblical instruction to justify “honouring the resurrection” on Sunday, OR any other day. The Bible actually does tell us to “honour the resurrection” “in so many words” but you obviously have failed to read the link I provided in my last post to explain this. Once again; it is a case of either doing it the way God says, in His Word, or the way the so called ECFs say so; which is NOT in God’s Word. I might add that that should read the **CATHOLIC **early church fathers.

Simply put; you have failed to show how the Bible would support God cancelling His own law, at the say so of the Catholic Church. He does not do what the Church says; but the Church does what He says. If Catholics would come back to their Protestant roots; they would do things God’s way.

I prefer to call it “dead pig sandwiches;” and yes, I did eat those at one time.

However; what you are referring to has nothing to do with the Sabbath; which is a part of the moral law of ten commandments given by God Himself.

Many days are recognized as “sabbaths” on the Jewish calendar - not just the last day of the week. Pesach (Passover), Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), and many, many others are sabbaths - regardless of where they happen to fall during the week.

G-d established these for the Jewish people. Non-Jews could follow them if they so chose, but were not obligated to do so (except in a few cases - Passover being one of them). The Council at Jerusalem (Acts 15) specifically defined which observances the Gentiles were to heed. Keeping Shabbat was not one of them. It was the practice of the early believers to gather in the synagogues on Shabbat, and spend the first day of the week (beginning sundown Sat PM) together encouraging one another and sharing the Gospel with non-believers.

As stated earlier in this thread, Messiah did not come to destroy the Law, but to fulfill it. Setting aside Sunday as a day of worship does not negate the fact that Saturday is Shabbat. The point is that one is to worship G-d any and every day, not just one particular day.

That’s why I love the McRib sandwich. They are simply delicious, and even the strictest Vegan or Jew can claim there’s an ounce of meat in there, “dead pig” or whatever else!!!

Orthodox Jews will tell you the Commandments are not just limited to the Decalogue. They count (as I recall) something like 631 Commandments – and keep them all.

Well, because of serious burns, I cannot grow a beard. But even if I could, it wouldn’t have “corners” unless it was square! Thats a weird beard!! Why don’t you grow one of those for us and post a picture here so we can all see!

You should likely think through better where you are going with this line about those 631 commandments. They have nothing to do with the ten; and if we follow your reasoning here; then it would not just apply to the fourth commandment, but to all ten.

Besides, Jesus was a Jew too. And Jesus kept His Fathers commandments.

I’d like to point out that this is the first accurate thing you’ve posted on this thread. Of course, the fact that it is rhetorical may be the reason you are accurate.

Why is it accurate? Because the Early Church was the Catholic Early Church. No difference!

It’s like the question, “Are you Catholic or Christian?” and the answer is, “Yes!”.

Not exactly negated but about 30% of them cannot be observed because they relate to Temple worship.

I seem to recall reading that, too.

But the Samaritans (the people whom Jesus used to teach us not to be bigots) were also Jews – descendants of the people of Israel (the northern Jewish kingdom conquered by the Assryans), who either remained behind in hiding when the Tribes of Israel were marched away, or who filtered back.

They worshiped at the Temple on Mount Gerizim and still do (in the ruins of that temple, to be exact) as the Priests of Christ’s time worshiped – including animal sacrifices.

The modern state of Israel has accepted that they are Jews, and they are slowly integrating and losing their particular religious character – and their worship will probably die out in a generation or two.

You follow your pope and we follow ours. The Catholic church does not teach hatred of the SDA. Catholics teach that you have been mislead. The SDA church teaches that the Pope is demon-inspired and that our church is a whore. I’ve read some of your church’s publications. Please don’t let bitterness creep in as the fruits of such teaching.

And FYI, it would do farmers a lot of good if they practiced the policy in the Bible about leaving fields to fallow every seventh year.

No, you’re the one who’s saying that. You’re the one who harps on Saturday as the Sabbath, but is quite willing to ignore all those other commandments.

And how about yourself – do you donate your income every 7th year to the poor?

You know what I like about these threads (this isn’t the only SDA thread we’ve seen here, you know)?

They blame Catholics for changing the Sabbath to Sunday. Now, we know that Christians were worshiping on Sunday very early – Justin’s First Apology is an example of an early document that tells us that.

But the SDA don’t accuse the Baptists, Episcopalians, Methodists, or other Protestants for changing the Sabbath – they accuse Catholics.

Which is, of course, a tacit admission we are the original Christians.
