The Russians do know how to put on a good military parade. They’ve had a lot of experience.

Yes, the Russians (and the Soviets before them) take VE Day very seriously, more so than we in the U.S., where one barely sees a mention. The reason for that is probably the fact that they had greater human and material costs than we did. Part of the blame for those increased costs can be laid at Stalin’s feet, but that’s a different subject.

A significant part of the material costs were born by Britain and the U.S. Without that help, it’s arguable that Hitler would have beaten them or at least fought the eastern front to a standstill.

Not really. I made a statement. You felt it required some further conclusion. I didn’t, telling you that I made the statement for no further purpose than to make it. Knowing that, you just couldn’t keep yourself from mischaracterizing it.
