Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, praised Pope Benedict and blasted Protestant bodies that have accepted women’s ordination and caved in to the secular culture on homosexuality.

Why do Catholics, or the Russian Orthodox, care what the Protestants do?

Because, regardless of whether or not they are part of our communions, they still lay claim to being Christian, and it upsets other Christian bodies to see our separated brethren compromise even more of their Truth to cater to secular society. Despite our differences, we are still brothers and sisters in Christ.

Why do Catholics, or the Russian Orthodox, care what the Protestants do?

Catholics are called upon to care about the eternal souls of all. Jesus taught us that we ARE our brother’s keeper.

Different Protestant denominations target Catholics who are weak in their faith in order to draw those Catholics out of the Catholic Church, into to the world of Protestantism, or Evangelicalism, where the ex-Catholic will be able to claim that he or she is “saved”.

Should Catholics not fight for the souls of people who are already Catholic, at the least, and even for the souls who were once Catholic but are now doomed because of the secularism that has seeped into the Evangelical, Protestant world?
