Russian Troll farms

This is the same argument that you made last time we talked about it. This is the job of law enforcement, not individual citizens. Why would Chuck Schumer get this information and expect to be believed (after all, the right wing media and Russian trolls will say he is lying)? If the FBI does it, that provides actionable evidence that the elected representatives can act on.
You’re dodging it. While I might not believe much of what Schumer says, that doesn’t mean he’s always wrong. My hypothetical included “proof positive”, i.e. evidence the FBI would believe. And if somebody gave that to Schumer and he gave it to the FBI, you would praise him for getting it. You know you would.

That would have to be answered by the people that wrote the law.

Just wrong.

It is perfectly legal to accept voluntary “services” from foreigners in connection with federal political campaigns, and it’s pretty wide-ranging. The Russian lobbyist was paid nothing, was offered nothing, presented nothing tangible of value and promised nothing tangible of value. Another party suggested that she might have useful information, but she didn’t. I realize some hate Trump Jr just because he’s Trump’s son, but it’s not a crime to be Trump’s son.

Nobody has ever been prosecuted for receiving information relevant to a campaign from a foreign source.

But that doesn’t mean nobody will be indicted in all of this. That’s what special prosecutors do; dig until they can find a way to charge somebody with something, however irrelevant to the ostensible purposes of the “investigation” might be and no matter how tangential the person charged might be.

It’s just a way to punish one’s political enemies.
Oh, my. While I appreciate your attempt to interpret the law, I think you are totally wrong and I think you are making excuses for what is treasonous behavior (in the literal if not legal sense). Save the tears for the hatred of Trump causing this - what he did was just plain wrong and any real patriotic American understands this.

No, I’m not dodging it. Besides the fact that it would be wrong to get this evidence from a foreign government as an elected representative of the United States as it is the responsibility of law enforcement, it would be idiotic for him to do so because the right wing media would just claim bias. Forget the FBI saying they believe it, you know that the Fox News/Rush Limbaugh would be just saying it is the ‘deep state’ or whatever their excuse is for anyone who thinks that Trump did something wrong and/or criminal. So, I’m not dodging it. It’s not only wrong for Schumer to do it, it’s just plain dumb for Schumer to do it.

Read the Federal Election Commission regulations and you’ll see. They say it straight up. No interpretation needed.

And I don’t shed tears over Trump hatred. I just marvel at it. Trump Jr decides to listen to what might have been evidence of actual influence peddling and you want to hang him. And yet, liberals listen to, and repeat, discernibly false assertions of his committing a crime, and that’s okay.

Nonsense. If Schumer got definitive evidence of an impeachable offense from Kim Jong-Un, you would praise him for it. And neither you nor the liberal media would pay the slightest attention to what Limbaugh or anybody else like him might say, though actually Limbaugh would probably be howling for Trump’s impeachment himself if real and convincing evidence of an impeachable offense was presented.

And so would I. One of the mistakes the left often makes in criticizing conservatives is to assume that conservatives think the same way leftists do. The left is capable and willing to ignore any wrongdoing by their own partisans and assume conservatives are like that as well. But conservatives aren’t.

That disadvantages conservatives vis a vis the left because conservatives aren’t willing to march in lockstep at their leaders’ orders the way liberals are. That couldn’t be more obvious in today’s congress where the Repubs are like a herd of cats and the Dems are like the old Soviet Politburo.

Yes, I’ve mentioned specific laws to you and now Theo. You choose to interpret them in a way that let’s your boy slide. I’m sure any defense attorney would love to see you on a jury.

You seem to have a conversation in your head with what you think I said instead of actually reading what I say. I did not say I wanted to hang him. I said his behavior was traitorous by the colloquial if not the legal definition. I said I think he broke the law and I said which law I think he broke. The accusations that he committed a crime are no discernibly false. They are a matter of legal debate.

Getting back to the original topic, in the end, I am struck by how many of your posts could originated in Moscow giving the inability to understand simple English and repeat right wing talking points.

Now you are straight out calling me a liar. Nice.

So now you cover for being a liar by saying that you would be ok with illegal behavior.

And you know who I would expect to compare the Dems to the old Soviet Politburo. A Russian Troll. Because they would be the ones to know.

B S!,
I’ve not seen you cite specific laws once on this topic

Now you are straight out calling me a liar. Nice.
Oh, not at all. Ideologically blinded and deluded, yes. I have no opinion as to whether you would deliberately tell a lie.

But you really ought to read the FEC regs instead of continuing to accuse me of being a Russian troll. You have worn that one slick. Is that really all you have?

Actually, you did. I said that I think Schumer would be wrong to gather information and you said I would be fine to have Schumer gather information. So, you called me a liar. And you don’t even have the guts to admit it.

As far as being blinded and deluded, that’s very nice. Yet, you don’t remember conversations we’ve had and seem to have imaginary conversations with me in your head that you are respond to in this forum. And you somehow think that DTJ was being patriotic in seeking dirt on his father’s political opponent saying “I love it” in an email. And I’m the deluded one?

I pointed to specific laws a few times. Really, read the posts already instead of just knee-jerking out a response.

I’m not saying that you are a Russian troll - I’m saying that your posts are indistinguishable from ones that I would expect from a Russian troll.

How many Russian trolls do you actually know?

If you want to think I called you a liar, I can’t help that. That really wasn’t my intention, though. My purpose was simply to point out how ideologically driven all of this verbal criminalization of Trump Jr really is, and how deranging it is.

You did call me a liar and now you want to pretend like you didn’t. And somehow, you think you can maintain the ability to have credibility on this topic. Listen if you can’t be honest about calling me a liar, why should anyone believe anything that comes out of your keyboard?

I’m not going to adopt your view of what I meant no matter how many times you say it.

Not surprising. I tell you what I meant and you told me that you don’t believe me and I would do the opposite. I.e., you called me a liar. And then you say I didn’t call you a liar but you don’t give any reason why I shouldn’t take what you said as anything other than you calling me a liar. If you are willing to lie about calling me a liar, then you are willing to lie about everything else to make DTJ not responsible for acting in a treasonous manner. So, no, I don’t expect you to say you would adopt my point of view. I’m just pointing out to everyone else reading that you are willing to lie about the most mundane things to make your point and that should be kept in mind whenever they read something you wrote.

One more time.

I said that if Chuck Schumer received some information on Trump that would positively prove an impeachable offense, you would think him a hero for receiving it and passing it on.

You denied that you would.

I did not believe that, and said so. That is not “calling you a liar” (as you just did of me). It is, however, expression of a belief on my part that what you say about it in a theoretical discussion would not prevent you from rejoicing in Trump’s destruction or being grateful to one who got it done; a position amply supported by everything you say about Trump (or his son) on here.

As to what others on here might choose to believe or disbelieve about anything I say here, they can make their own judgments henceforth just as they have been able to do heretofore. I have no expectation that everybody will believe everything I say just because I say it, even if I believe it myself.

In short, while I have no reason to doubt the subjective sincerity of your statement, I do not believe it would be reflected in your thoughts if, indeed, Schumer received and disseminated information that would cause Trump to be impeached.

So, you realize that, at this point, you just called me a liar. Forget the rest. I said what I meant and you told me you didn’t believe what I said to be true. And yet, with the very next sentence you claim that this is not calling me a liar.

So, either you are a liar or you don’t understand what a liar is and when you call someone a liar.
