I’m not that surprised…the main focus here in the US is about the Mueller report…like nothing else in the world exists…meanwhile Russia takes advantage…can’t fault them for that i guess.

Yes, we played this game before resulting in the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960’s

Well, for two years now, this administration’s hands have been virtually tied when it came to anything non-hostile involving Russia. Maybe that will change now, but I am inclined to doubt it. Trump can’t do anything regarding Russia that is not clearly hostile or confrontational. No diplomacy is possible, because diplomacy often involves compromise or mutual benefit. That, of course, plays into Putin’s hands. He can characterize the U.S. as unrelentingly hostile and aggressive toward Russia in order to justify the hardships and waste of resources he asks the Russian people to endure.

If Putin didn’t invent the Mueller investigation, he should have.

And I don’t think it helps that we’ve now got 4 bull headed world leaders all with their big egos…Trump…Putin…Xi J(name removed by moderator)ing…Kim Jong un…maybe that’s a good thing that they understand the limits they can push each other…on the other hand maybe it makes it a more dangerous world…the rest of us are just spectators

I hope those troops had the foresight to bring their own roll of TP. I hear they have run out of the stuff down there in the paradise that is Venezuela.

Hands tied? Or wrapped around Putin in a bro-hug? For two years their bromance has been widely noted. Trump, who views everything through the lense of money has held long time hopes for big business dealings with Russia (he writes about it in The Art of the Deal) He is also aware there is life after the Presidency…Hope springs eternal.

Putin, being the Russian he is utilized this knowledge well. Like the thug he is, he is depending on Trump being who he is, Trump looking out for the welfare of Trump.

Russia is not on our side.

Their government, economy, and way of life is everything conservatives wail against. Except of course for now. Trump was depending on that!~

I think you may have misunderstood Xystus. He/She was alluding to the fact that common every day supplies are not readily available in Venezuela because of the current chaos.

@JanetF was exactly right. I was not insulting Russians. I think you are being a bit defensive, and unnecessarily so.

For sure. They did it for Cuba for decades and perhaps still do.

how about you save your snarky responses for those who actually make those type of comments

Nice of Putin to remind us all that he loves helping dictators suppress their own people with violent force. Well done.

I don’t think the US will allow much more of this. The Monroe Doctrine has been standard procedure since the War of 1812, whether we still call it that or not.

I am surprised that the US allows it.
What business would the U.S. have disallowing it? As much as Americans like to pretend otherwise Venezuela is a sovereign nation.
