While that is undoubtedly true, I think the point Ridgerunner was making is that tempering our criticism with an honest acknowledgment of the good things a president/politician has done (and surely all of them have done at least something good) would make people less defensive.
I was in the Nuclear Navy. One of the things they stressed was this:
One Oh Sh*T, negates 10 attaboys.
I live and breathe that. I am a Software Engineer now. One Oh Sh_T gets out to the live product will negate 10 attaboys as well.

Trump’s Lies alone outnumber his attaboys 10 to 1 on the average.

His Presidential chracacter is anything but. And Ryan has had enough. He wants to leave office while he still looks good if you want to call it that. Too many Republicans are not seeking reelection. Let that sink in as sign.

No I don’t . But I do think life comes first.
Fair enough. If you think one act of righteousness is a free pass for other sinful acts, so be it…but dont expect that everyone will see it that way.
I did not say it gives him a pass.

But your are judging motives. He gave his reasons. He didn’t want to be Speaker either due to family concerns. He is being consistent.

I don’t know if that was the point RR was making, but if he did I would find it amusing. I don’t think RR has ever acknowledged a good thing Hillary has done (I am not saying that she did anything good either). My point is you cannot expect people who don’t support Trump not to trash him. Just like you can’t expect people who didn’t support Hillary or Obama not to trash them. That is just the nature of politics. The idea that Trump is being singled out for abuse is rather silly on its face.

We have the ability to read between the lines and look at those around him doing the same.

I am less inclined to believe what he said. And that is backed up by looking at his politicfact data for the all of 2017 and 2018.

His ability to tell the truth has been weighed and measure and has been found to be wanton.

All this digging for dirt is making me sick. Most politicians exaggerate their political accomplishments.

But Paul Ryan has never had an affair, he’s a family man, he has talked about growing up without a father. He’s making decisions based on that. Gotta find something to nail him with.

All he has to do is tell the truth. Nuff Said.

That is all anyone has to do. Tell the Truth.

Don’t embellish on the Truth.

Don’t Exaggerate on the Truth.

Don’t evade when asked a simple yes or no question.

You would be surprised how much respect one would garner if they just did those simple things.

It’s not a hard concept. Tell the truth at all cost.
