S.F. Catholic lawsuit rejected by Supreme Court
The U.S. Supreme Court turned down an appeal Monday by Catholics who said San Francisco supervisors violated their religious rights by denouncing a Vatican ban on placing adoptive children with same-sex couples.

The supervisors passed a resolution in 2006 condemning the decree by Cardinal William Levada, the former San Francisco archbishop who now heads the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. He said allowing gay or lesbian couples to adopt children “would actually mean doing violence to these children.”

The decree barred Catholic Charities, the church’s provider of social services, from placing children with gays or lesbians.

The resolution, while stupid and ill-conceived, was also non-binding. It was fodder for public opinion, not an instrument of public policy.

You are right, since the Resolution was non-binding according to the Article.
However, it certainly was inflamatory.

According to several recent articles in the California Catholic Daily, there has been a signficant number of hate crimes in California against Catholic Churches in the past year - everything from vandalism to fires.

It seems that SFO government is against the ability of Catholic biological parents to have their children placed in good Catholic homes.
Sodomy is a mortal sin.
