**The meaning for the Shekinah is the presence of Elohim. Of course, the Shekinah of God was in the Eden; albeit in an allegorical manner. Then, It stayed in the Tabernacle throughout the 40 years in the desert, and all the time in the Temple. Moreover, it followed the Jews into exile. The opposite would be to say that it did not follow the Ten Tribes into their exile, because their exile was permanent and final. In the Temple, the place for the Shekinah was on the top of the Ark of the Covenant between those two statues of golden angels, according to Jewish tradition. **
