Parishioners at St Michael’s parish in Parkhead, Glasgow, Scotland, were left devastated last night after a member of their congregation was deported to Nigeria.

They now fear John Oguchukwu, 34, could face death in the African country, which he left nine years ago after his parents and sister were killed.

A St Michael’s parish councillor said: “It makes me ashamed to be British.”

How terribly sad.

In college I was good friends with some of the Lost Boys of Sudan. What they faced on an daily basis…was more than even the worst off American could even dream of. This is not like deporting a central american who dreamed of a better life and lived in poverty. These people were tortured as boys, forced to fight, and forced to watch men torture, rape and kill their mothers and little sisters and burn their fathers alive.

 This is so disgusting. Is there no mercy left in the world?

Indeed. 😦

Through the prayers of the Mother Of God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.

Wow. Nigerian Christians are being persecuted badly there. Right now.
How can the UK deport somebody like this? Shameful.

Why exactly was he deported? How did he remain in the country for so long before getting deported. Did he break any laws?

I don’t think Nigerian Christians are being persecuted in all parts ( or any parts of Nigeria). I know of a Catholic priest who left Canada (Cardiff, Ontario) for a few weeks to see his family in Nigeria, and he returned safe and sound…
We Canadians deport criminals and those who falsified their entry papers. We have only recently tightened up our immigration requirements.
