Was this on a pamphlet at a bus stop? šŸ˜‰
I figured as a Catholic, you’d know what I was saying…it also comes from the third Secret of Fatima. The blessed Mother first spoke of the apostacy of the faith, the predictions of trouble within the church which would start at the top, and the killing of the pope.
Some say it was meant for pope John Paul, others say it is for another. Perhaps Benedict.
Please tell me you read other books than your bible.

The Pope will go to your country soon, do you pray for his safety ? I do …
and also for his safety when he comes to France afterwards (in mid-September )…
mainly because he has recently been threatened by Al Quaeda … ( I mean Bin Laden’s terrorist organization, I’m not sure of the English spelling … )
Thankyou for your prayers and your presence at this site. On my Grandmother’s side we had French Huguenots who came to this country through Canada - many many years ago.

He does need our prayer at all times. After all, he has 1 billion children, 1 billion estranged children, and 4 billion others to worry about.

The number of people there to protect him doesn’t matter if someone is determined enough and cares little enough about innocent life. Only God can protect him then.

I am glad you liked the way I said that. It is true that we may not agree on the path to God, but we do agree that the path is needed and we must walk it. If your way is the only way for you, God Bless. My way is the only way for me.šŸ‘
ā€œone billion estranged childrenā€, do you count Protestants among them ??? then I can’t agree ā€¦šŸ˜›

Huguenot,

It is gratifying to hear that a protestant such as yourself would pray for the safety of the Pope. Thank you very much. šŸ™‚ Your prayers, however you choose to pray, are most welcome.

May God’s blessings be upon you.
Thanks a lot …
wasn’t the water too cold when you swam the Tiber ? 😃

I certainly agree with you that we pray whichever we like, but Jesus taught us how to pray aslo. I don’t think that anything Jesus teaches is not needed.

Anyhow, this is a minor thing and not the subject of the post. I don’t want to go off the topic.
I agree with you on one point : everything that Jesus teaches us is useful, it’s just that … I don’t use it the same way …

That is what I’ve read and been told that there will be only one more pope and then things will start happening. I hear it is this pope.
I think maybe these things are just speculations (or is it part of the official teaching of the Catholic church ? if it is, I’ve never heard of it … )

so if it isn’t part of it why bother ( as a Catholic ? ) ( for you … )

and as a Protestant I don’t really worry about who the last Pope will be …

This is a bit off-topic.

Actually, it is the next Pope.

It comes from the prophecy of St. Malachy. Some people consider it a hoax, others take it seriously as it has done a fairly good job of describing many of the popes.

What do I think? 🤷 I only know that the future is in God’s hands.

If you want to discuss this further, it might be a little fun. But we should start a different thread and not hijack Huguenot’s.
but who is this Saint Malachy ? I’ve vaguely heard about it, but it is not the prophet called Malachy in the Old Testament …

If they were fleeing religious persecution, sure they arrived in your country a very long time ago, since there haven’t been religious persecutions in France for a long time …
some fled after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes ( in 1685 ) and until Protestantism was allowed again, a bit more than a century later …
some fled a bit earlier because there were tough persecutions from 1681-1682, I don’t remember exactly ( well I was very young then ā€¦šŸ˜› ), a few years before Protestantism was banned …
And I suppose your ancestors liked it in your country …

Well I don’t pray for him everyday, moreover for me the expression ā€œHoly Fatherā€ refers to God : that’s how I sometimes call Him in my prayers, so I couldn’t use the same expression for a man ; moreover I’m not Catholic( Protestant ) but if I feel somebody is in danger I pray for him …
I also pray for the French hostage in Colombia Ingrid BĆ©tancourt … all the more now as it seems she has serious health problems … she’s been a hostage in the jungle for 6 or 7 years…
Well when we catholic say ā€˜holy father’ we mean the leader (father) of catholics on earth.

Just as you would say someone is a holy man, well yes we consider the pope to be holy, and since he is a father figure->holy father.

I can’t pray as you say, I’m a Protestant so I pray only God, and I pray Him with my own words to protect Benedict XVI …( I don’t see the link with saying a ā€œOur Fatherā€ for him, or a Glory be or anything else … )
Glory be is just:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

Huguenot, thank you for praying for the Pope in whatever way you will! God bless you! šŸ™‚

ā€œone billion estranged childrenā€, do you count Protestants among them ??? then I can’t agree ā€¦šŸ˜›
Well, I didn’t want to say ā€œlostā€ or ā€œrun-a-wayā€ šŸ˜› šŸ˜‰

I know, but … I can’t …

Glory be is just:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
We also say that ( among other things ) when we want to glorify God, only we won’t say it ā€œforā€ somebody…( ā€œintentionsā€, as I have already said it is a concept I don’t grasp … )

Wrapped in the warmth of God’s ever-present love, how could I ever be cold and wet? šŸ™‚
Well I don’t feel cold and wet ( except on the day of my baptism since I was baptized by immersion 😃 ) in my Protestant church either …
