I can tell you that in those 200 different churches that the SAME thing is NOT done. Even from experience or television. Just watch the religious channels on your cable or satellite or walk into the churches. Can you tell me they are interpreting the same way?
Ask any convert from those denominations as well. Jimmy Aiken, Tim Staples, Scott Hahn. Listen to their tapes and you’ll learn that they were taught differently amongst themselves from Southern Baptists to Assemblies of God.
If they did the same thing or interpret in the same way, then explain why they are separate denominations. It’s a fair assumption is it not? I learned that from the many converts I have researched. Did you read the entire link I showed you?

I wasn’t asking if the Holy Spirit was omnipresent.

Peace.
I know a church in California, that more than 1/2 the congregation are former Catholics, that would be about 8K former Catholics in one church alone. When you hear their testimonies; they almost always state after receiving the truth, they never knew Christ. And you can’t unless God the Father reveals Him.

This is what really counts, one on one personal relationship, not the denomination. You continue to stereotype all these folks is a real problem. I personally feel that God has a remnant within the Catholic System; but I don’t like going based on feeling on the things that concern God.

I didn’t say I don’t read the Bible or understand the Bible, I do. But I don’t feel the need to go around citing chapter and verse to all and sundry. All too often such exchanges strike me not as well-meaning and helpful but more often as arrogant, uncharitable bashing. 🙂
Since you have an understanding, what does salvation mean to you?

Maybe they never knew Jesus, or maybe, instead, they never learned, for whatever reason, what the Catholic Church teaches. That is not the same thing.

I was a Protestant once. Now that I am a Catholic I KNOW that I know Jesus. I thought I did before, but I lacked the fullness of truth that I have available to me now.

Why do you worship, oh excuse me venerate, Mary, dead saints, the Pope etc
What does this have to do with the topic?
He can’t be in both natures at the Mass? For many reasons, but based on this discussion and your post #45, humans are not omnipresent, so one nature can’t be at all those sacrifices. Oh that’s right He was at only one, never to be repeated…what does that matter it is only Jesus word’s; but nothing wrong with picking and choosing which words count and which one’s don’t.
Explain how He can’t be? Wherever Christ is and where He chooses to be Christ brings both natures fully and completely, so by definition Christ, in total, is always present. In Catholic theology that little consecrated piece of unleavened bread is as much Christ as if He were standing in front of you. There is no difference. This does not diminish God but elevates us.
Christ does do what He say’s, which is John 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 “I am the bread of life.”
Yikes … did you continue to John 6:53.
It is beyond me, except what the Scriptures says, how anyone is blind to the fact that the flesh and blood is referring to the cross; death, burial and resurrection and the way of salvation which is by faith and not cannibalization and has zippo to do with the Lords Supper.
I thought the whole cannibalization argument went the way of the Romans … I was wrong. The whole of Scripture points to the Last Supper, Crucifiction and Resurection … they can be no more seperated than the splitting of Christ’s natures. The sacrifice of Christ is ever present in front of the Father … and is pleasing to the Father … the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass joins all the Church Triumphant and Church Militant together.

I am going to go out on a limb here to stress a point … much in the same way a man and woman give each other in love … they each give their body to the other … so Christ does with His bride. He shares His body in total and perpetual love by giving it … this is what the Eucharist is, the physical pronouncement of Christ’s love for His church. This is why we Catholics say Christ is the groom and the Church His bridegroom.

When St. Paul talks about ‘‘the truth’’ he says this in 1Timothy 3:14-16
From the KJV: 14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:

15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the TRUTH.’’
  1. Where does it say that the truth is to be found in a personal relationship one on one???
  2. What Church is he referring to??
  3. How long has that church in California you talk about been in existence?
To bad all you have met are Catholics who never studied their faith. They are the easiest to confuse with sola fide and sola scriptura. But the Jesus never talked about sola fide or sola scriptura did he?

Where can I find that in Sacred Scripture? You know, the verse where Jesus said, ‘‘To know me and the truth is to have a personal one on one relationship with me.’’

I can’t find it! Help!

1 Timothy 6:3-4 ; If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree with the SOUND INSTRUCTION of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that doctrine which is according to godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about controversies and disputes of words.

Peace.

i know a church that has about 1.4 billion cathloic,so what is your point, i also had 32 people in a RCIA class and 18 are ex baptist so what point are you trying to make-----------------------------------------Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?"
Gal 4:16

I’m not sure why you are fighting with me Bill. I was responding to another post where they talked about never learning Jesus until they left the Catholic Church. That may not be the fault of the Catholic Church that they didn’t learn.

I myself gained a more complete relationship with Jesus when I became a Catholic.

Did you address your post to me by accident?

Not at all, for the Eucharist - like the marital act - is a covenantal renewal in which bride and groom give themselves to one another in complete and total intimacy such that the two become “one flesh” (Ephesians 5:25-32).

It is for this reason that Communion in the state of grace is necessary (1 Corinthians 11:27-29); just as an adulterous man who lays with his wife defiles the altar of the marriage bed through infidelity, so too does an unworthy communicant profane The Blessed Sacrament (1 Corinthians 6:13-20).

You prove you don’t have one by your comments.

Melanie,
You, too, are gracious.

Holy God, Almighty Father, I lift up our friend Non-Catholic to you. I pray that you will give Non-Catholic the grace to see the truth. I pray that you will give Non-Catholic the grace that breaks down any barriers there are that prevent Non-Catholic from understanding and accepting the fullness of that truth. I also pray that Non-Catholic will receive your peace. In the Holy Name of Jesus I make this prayer. Amen.

LOL you can’t even answer my questions so it’s better to overlook them with that kind of comment?

Answer the questions. It’s all I’m asking.

Peace.

1 Timothy 3:15 ‘‘But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the CHURCH of the living God, the PILLAR and GROUND of the TRUTH.’’

We live the truth. You live in an interpretation that didn’t come along until the 18th century. The Church is the truth and always has been!

Peace.

There you said it;“the Church is the truth.” I live in Christ and He in me. I’ll keep on praying for you. 👍

Thank you! BTW, here’s some interesting facts for you.
  1. God’s Church was referred to as ‘‘catholic’’ for the first time in the 1st century in a letter by St. Ireneus who used the word meaning ‘‘universal’’. The disciples of the apostles (the early Church fathers) quickly adopted the word to distinguish it from other pagan churches.
  2. The Catholic Church survived until 382 A.D. without a canon of scripture published as the Bible that we have today.
  3. It was a bunch of Catholics who were guided by the Holy Spirit and published the canon of scripture at the Council of Rome in 382 A.D.
  4. Sacred Scripture and Tradition was taught as a whole with the same interpretation for centuries until Martin Luther added the word ‘‘alone’’ to the King James Version 1600.
  5. Martin Luther never disputed the interpretation of John Ch. 6.
  6. The King James Version 1600 contains a calendar of all the Saint Feast Days and all 72 books.
  7. Martin Luther and not Jesus or his apostles, is the one who taught ‘‘sola fide’’ or ‘‘faith alone’’ which you seem to be the fruit of.
  8. No where in the Bible does it say what you or Martin Luther teach. Jesus didn’t teach ‘‘faith alone’’ the apostles didn’t teach ‘‘faith alone’’ and none of the early Church fathers taught ‘‘faith alone’’. Not until Luther in 1600 A.D. who was an excommunicated Catholic monk.
  9. The authority to ‘‘bind and loose’’, including the interpretation of Tradition or Sacred Scripture, was passed down from Jesus himself to the Apostles who passed down the same authority to today’s Magisterium.
  10. There was a living Catholic Church between the time the disciples of Jesus’ apostles taught and the Bible was published with 72 books (not 66) and John Ch. 6 was taken as literal then and it is taken as literal now.
I will also pray that you put your pride aside and ask God to open your mind and realize that what you’ve been taught and what you teach now is what was warned about in Sacred Scripture.

Now then…would you like to answer my questions from the earlier post or should I just keep repeating them to you?

Peace.
