And what was their proof that Jesus actually was a false prophet? They were not able to PROVE that he casted demons through the prince of the demons…
You know what the NT says, everything they said was building a case against him. Obviously for us they didn’t have real proof that Jesus and Stephen were lying, but it was good enough for ones who accused them.

Do you have women preachers in the RCC?
a preacher is anyone who preaches the gospel vocally. There are women preachers throughout the church who preach the gospel. Most CCD teachers I have ever met are women. But we do not have any “preachers” (male or female) at all during our liturgy. We have a sacramental priests who give a reading of the gospel and a homily.

We haven’t always had women doing the first reading!😉

They stoned Stephen for for blasphemy of just SAYING he saw Jesus sitting at God’s right hand.

Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

I am not saying they wanted Him dead only because He claimed to be God…they wanted His dead for different reasons.

this, however, does not mean that what Jesus uttered is not considered pure blasphemy, since a “mere man” is claiming to be God, their exact words…Jesus said many things they did not like, among them are His “blasphemous” words…we cannot deny they are indeed blasphemous only because they wanted Him dead anyway…even when He uttered no “blasphemy”, they did want Him dead anyway, yet without calling “blasphemy”

Now I think I see your point, but still the men in the pews have to be quiet, no?
Yeah but you aren’t going to be having women popes any time soon right? So there is still some segregation there in RCC, if not all of Christianity.

When Stephen said he saw Jesus WITH God, that pushed them over the edge to stone him. If both Jesus and Stephen said Jesus IS God I would be forced to agree with you, but IS and WITH aren’t the same thing. So your argument is based on an error.

Funny, heh? Until Jesus answered the High Priest’s question, they DID NOT have a case against Jesus. But then, Jesus’ statement apparently was an obvious proof in their eyes. For all their prejudices against Jesus, they finally got it from the man himself! So, it’s really from his statement, and this statement alone, that they got proof of his “blasphemy”. So, again, I’m asking you: What in that statement itself was so obviously a blasphemy in the eyes of those present. Many said it loud, the others remained silent. So it must have been very significant! What was it, then (if you can answer me, of course)? If you don’t know, you are allowed to say so, you know…

The fact that Jesus was arrested means they already had a case against him based on various things like breaking Sabbath, enocouraging rebellion against Caesar, etc.

That Jesus claimed to be a man from God, and in power next to God (not as God) simply clinched it once in the courtroom. He was a false prophet speaking blasphemy and lies about his standing with God.

Same as Stephen claiming to see a vision, they just stoned him for being like a false prophet for lying about seeing that.

you did not understand my argument in the first place. I do not say they killed Jesus only because He claimed to be God, and they surely did not kill Stephen for claiming to be God, but for blasphemy against Moses and God. If they want someone dead, they can kill for any reason, be it correct or not but this does not mean that what Jesus uttered is not truly blasphemous.

Take this hypothetical scenario:

Jesus tells them " I am the Alpha and Omega"…BUT they want Him dead for POLITICAL reasons…does this negate that Jesus did indeed utter blasphemy? no.

Well, priests are not rabbis! In Christianity, the priest acts “in persona Christi”. Then, Jesus the Messiah (or Christ) happens to be a male man. Therefore, the priest acting “in persona Christi” has to be a male also! Why were there no women among the Israelite priests, if I may ask? And why did it have to be only Aaron and his descendants?😉

No, but you’ve yet to prove that Jesus claimed to be God. Not with I AM, even the blind man used that phrase, and Jesus was talking about being Melchizedek as I’ve shown. Not with standing next to God, since next to and IS is not the same. Not with claiming to be a prophet acting like a God over them.

Not with John 1:1 since Jesus is never mentioned there, only in John 1:14 where God’s Word made flesh means that God dwelled in a prophet who spoke God’s Word, making him God’s Word in the flesh to the people.

Not in anything is there proof Jesus ever claimed to be God, only a man with power and authority of God.

Therefore, the priest acting “in persona Christi” has to be a male also!
Ok, so there is segregation still in RCC, where you used the argument earlier that there are no men or women in Christ, all are one. Maybe to a lesser degree than in some sects of Islam, in some cultural regions where women would be treated that way anyway without Islam.

But then maybe in other sects of Christianity like Mormonism there is far more segregation than there is among more moderate and western Muslims, like me for example.

So really, it’s all relative.

Who can stand next to God, at His right hand? Why next to God rather than in front of Him like a subaltern? Who can stand next to God other than His… equal?

Where are the priests in Judaism today?

Anyone God wants, Jesus and all the other faithful sitting in thrones with and next to God. But that doesn’t mean they are all Gods with God, they are still human servants of God.

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

They had nothing solid before Jesus’ reply, remember!

No, but you’ve yet to prove that Jesus claimed to be God. Not with I AM

if you believe the authors of the NT were Jews, and if you believe they knew previous scriptures, and you read the parallelism in wording and context between the I AM of God in OT and i AM of Jesus in the NT,it is on you to prove it was all a coincidence, or that the Jewish writers were joking, or that they had no idea what they were talking about.

And if you believe the authors were Jews, yet Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the searcher of hearts, the creator, the giver of divine peace, the giver of wisdom, the giver of the Holy Spirit, the Judge of destiny, the omnipotent and omipresent, then it is on you to prove these Jewish authors were either polytheistic, or they did not read their scriptures.

How could Jesus even say that if he didn’t have the authority to do so? And how did he get to have his own throne? You don’t have a statement like that from any Prophet of Israel, even from Moses…
