immediate post V2 was a very difficult time in Church history

P6 was the Pope when my generation was sort of “waking up” & getting involved in the life & practice of Catholicism

P6 kept the “ship” from running aground in very difficult circumstances. sainthood? i’ll leave that up to the hierarchy…

Yes, he was a very courageous pope and intercession as a saint will aid those looking for courage and strength in the face of severe adversity … as well as wisdom in decision making…

Historically, yes. But the rules for the canonization process were changed.

Just as a point of clarification, loving a Pope is not the same as having a cult following.

But it doesn’t matter, because the requirement for the cult following has been removed.

The reply was to a statement about people not having a devotion to him, rather then having a cult following.

Plenty of people have devotion to this great Pope. A Pope that was meant to be an interim Pope who would keep things ticking along, and instead called the second Vatican Council.
