“King Mwanga of Uganda launched persecutions of Christians in response to their opposition to his homosexual and corrupt court. "ONE AND HOLY IN THE SPIRIT"

"We live in a world torn by conflicting interests, jealousy, aggressiveness, and so many forms of enslavement. All this is the consequence of SIN. Left to ourselves, we would have been unable to overcome such destructive forces. That is why God promised and sent the Holy Spirit, as the divine healing Power that can undo the tragedies of division, mistrust, hatred, and death brought about by human sinfulness.

As we commemorate the Solemnity of Pentecost, let us open our hearts to the Holy Spirit so that He may fashion us to the likeness of Jesus and into a community characterized by mutual acceptance, appreciation, solidarity, and love." (p.1.)

“St. Barnabas was a Jew from Cyprus, but the Holy Spirit destined Barnabas to a universal mission. He accompanied St. Paul on his first missionary journey and at the Council of Jerusalem. Having converted many souls to Christ, St. Barnabas died in Cyprus during Nero’s reign; tradition has it that he was stoned to death. “Born in Lisbon, Portugal, St. Anthony (1195-1231) was a Franciscan known for his profound knowledge of theology and rhetorical skill. His preachings carried him from the north of Africa to Italy and France. He is called the “Evangelical Doctor” because he based all that he said on the texts of the Gospels. St. Anthony is the patron of elderly people, of expectant mothers, seekers of lost articles, faith in the Blessed Sacrament, etc.
