Ah. Evolutionary cousins of the dudes that rule my house.
Swapped out my air handler a bit ago and while I was grunting away at the task, more and more appeared to see who had invaded their crawl space (technicalities like property titles apparently don’t concern them very much).
I began to wonder if I needed to go into the crawl space armed…

Oceans. Particularly now in early summer.
Forget their name, but these tiny grasshopper looking dudes are currently covering a very respectable amount of my big picture window.

Never seen them chomping on anything, but I live in a rural setting. One neighbor within half a mile of me. Rest is woods and fields.

I have seen two salamanders since I’ve lived here. Mostly, I see anurans. Now skinks, I saw a broad-headed one on a tree once, and was wondering was fascinated by it. That sucker was huge, well, huge for a skink.

Which reminds me, there ARE salamanders in Alaska, but I do not think they overlap with Polar bears. I’d have to check. The species of salamander are the rough-skinned newt, the northwestern salamander, and the long-toed salamander.
Now, I’m a bit perplexed on why some websites say “salamanders and newts”, when newts are just a type of salamander (its family is even called Salamandridae)

I respectfully disagree.
Aussie polar bears have much better food available to them, like great white sharks.
Why bother with a small salamander?
Unless the polar bear is on a diet but even then, there are diet low carb versions of great white sharks available in the local market.
