Believing in the existence of God, of Love Itself, is necessary for salvation since one cannot love Love without believing it is out there to love in the first place. However belief in Jesus as the Christ is not necessary for salvation. This is clear from the bible in this passage:Romans 4:3 Äbraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.
Romans 4:2 If in fact Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about-but not before God.
I think I’m looking for what Abraham received from God, justification. And it seems that according to God’s word all I need to do is believe God. I know that’s not the end of my walk with God, because the Bible teaches that faith without works is dead. Sequentally, faith comes first, along with justification, and then come the works. It seems as though many of the posts here put works before justification. In other words, we need to earn our justification. Abraham was justified by believing in God.
God Bless,
Robert
“9This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance 10(and for this we labor and strive), that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4)
So the “living God” is not only the savior of “those who believe” but also those who do not believe since he is “especially” the savior of those who believe. What do you think of this?
