Salvation through RCC?

Wow, just when I think I’ve heard everything from the non-Catholic Christian world, I hear something new. I have never, ever run into a Christian who wasn’t certain that the thief was saved.
I’ve never, ever heard a compelling reason to believe that he was saved, since Christ indeed didn’t say he was.

Thank you for proving my point that He did NOT say, “Today will you be saved…”
He said ‘you will be WITH ME’ - how can that not equate to being saved? By the way, in what parallel universe do you think the eternal pain of damnation is better than a few hours of even intense suffering on a cross? Do you even realise what eternal damnation means? Pain with NO END.

So, when the toilet paper was “with Him” in the bathroom, was it saved to?

Moreover, who said the thief was suffering eternal damnation? I never did…that’s your creative proof-text, not mine. On the contrary, I don’t think he was suffering such a damnation. I think he was in paradise free from the pains of life and the crucification. But please…I can’t wait for you to prove me wrong…

You may have tried to be the Nadia Comaneci of mental gymnastics, but, unfortunately for you, all that happened is you ended up being the Vinko Bogataj of mental ski jumping.

Is being saved - being with Christ after death?, or did I miss something?

Actually, I’m more like the Rulon Gardner of synchronized swimming…it just aint pretty.

But thanks for addressing the issues!!! Wow…a lot of loud talkers with little sticks around here. A lot of backseat drivers without licenses. A lot of bench players that don’t know how to play the game. A lot of cooks spending too much time in the buffet line.

I forgot…why do I care about your ad hominem when you have yet proven your competency in addressing the issues? Yawn.

 o-kayy, time to clean up your carcrash of an argument.

Christ didn’t go to the bathroom after death, nor did he go to hell or anywhere of real importance other than to the Father, as he said to Mary Magdalene.

He was not for long in *any *sort of intermediate state. So there’s only one place, when everything is said and done, where the thief could be with him, which is Heaven, and saved.

I mean this in the nicest way:

Only either a) someone dishonest with himself or b) a moron would not realize that to be with Jesus in paradise means being “saved” as described by the various Protestant denominations.

A Pac, are you a) dishonest with yourself or b) a moron?

Your logical fallacy is called a false dillemma. I reject the defintions by Protestant denominations.

Only morons use such fallacies as false dillemma.

Are you a) a moron,
or b) uncritically rash to judgment?

This is getting boring. I leave it to you to juxtapose:
18 For Christ also hath once asuffered for sins, the just for the bunjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to cdeath in the flesh, but quickened by the dSpirit:
19 By which also he went and apreached unto the bspirits in cprison;
20 aWhich sometime were bdisobedient, when once the clongsuffering of God waited in the days of dNoah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were esaved by fwater.
How else did he preach to those spirits in prison that were around during the time of Noah? Was He in hell with them? Wait…then that’d make them saved, right? Weird…

I did NOT offer a “false dilemma”.

Either you are not honest with yourself as a Christian by admitting that being in paradise with Jesus is the same thing as being in Heaven/“saved”/etc., or you are too stupid to realize that being in paradise with Jesus is the same thing as being in Heaven/“saved”/etc.

Which is it, are you not a Christian who is honest with himself, or are you a moron? There really is no other option, this is not a false dilemma, this is an honest, up front question. You either “come clean”, or continue to wallow in your own stupidity.

There is no way to dance around Luke 23:43.

‘The longsuffering of God’ - that means the righteous, not the unrighteous, who were not ‘of God’ (Godly).

The wicked were already in hell, as the story of Lazarus and the rich man demonstrated (rich man = not in the same place as Abraham and Lazarus, separated from them by an impassable chasm).

So yes the spirits Christ preached to were all saved 🙂 QED.

Since you like to talk, I’ll spell this out very slowly to give you a chance to listen:
Either you are not honest with yourself as a Christian by admitting that being in paradise with Jesus is the same thing as being in Heaven/“saved”/etc., or you are too stupid to realize that being in paradise with Jesus is the same thing as being in Heaven/“saved”/etc.
I reject the Catholic and Protestant definitions. They’re wrong.

Again, thank you for reiterating yet another false dilemma.
There is no way to dance around Luke 23:43.
You’re right. Had Jesus MEANT heaven he would have SAID heaven. But he didn’t. He said PARADISE. Why is that? Because, they’re mutually exclusive. Why do you assume to know that Jesus MEANT to say something when he clearly didn’t say it?

If I were Jesus, I’d be annoyed that you keep proof-texting me.

Actually…Lazarus was a STORY…not a biography. It was metaphoric.

And yes, you’re right. He WAS preaching to the longsuffering of God. That’s the point…they weren’t in heaven yet, but somewhere between death and heaven and it certainly wasn’t hell. Could it have been perhaps…Paradise?

Your comments reveal that you are ignorant of the Catholic Faith. Not surprising, since even most Catholics are ignorant of their own Faith.

Also, where in that quote in 1 Peter does it say anything about “Hell”?

Are you willing to admit to at least your ignorance?
