I think these threads need greater sincerity and objectivity.

We seem to be mixing concepts and “buying” the use of various secular terms.

“Orientation”, SSA. These are not objective, undisputed concepts, or human processes.

There are many people, some here, who would like to accept these concepts as proven and given, and natural and normal. They’re far from it.

Before accepting them firmly, one needs to look sideways to other forms of sexual behavior - masturbation, bestiality, pedophiles, voyeurism, etc etc. What logically is stopping us from labeling them similarly as orientations and “attractions” of various sorts? Nothing.

To lazily label something as SSA as if doing so makes it real is irrational.

It’s all backwards. I have these feelings, there must be a name or state for them, they must be real, they must be normal, they must be accepted…it goes like this almost unchallenged.

The world’s history has been replete with all kinds of disordered behaviors. A certain number of people in every society have always been alcoholics, drug addicts, rapists, pedophiles, sado-masochists, etc. You are right, that’s not going to change. But it doesn’t have to be accepted or approved by society as a whole. The notion that it’s somehow indecent for heterosexuals to oppose and discourage homosexuality is itself indecent. When the vast majority of mankind have a conviction that a certain minority are behaving in a destructive and self destructive way, the vast majority have every right to use every means they can muster to defeat that behavior.

They especially have every right to protect children from exposure to an environment in which they can be seduced and cheated out of their manhood or womanhood.

In case you didn’t know it, for a while in this thread we have been talking about same-sex adoption of children. If it is homophobe to fear letting children be adopted by same-sex couples, then I plead guilty. On the other hand, you may be naive beyond belief!

Well, from what I was reading it seemed homophobic but then again this thread kept getting bumped up because people were constantly responding so its hard to keep up.
But I’m pretty sure you said something about how it affects kids, and it doesn’t. Kids don’t care about homosexuals. They don’t even know what sex is. All they care about is getting new toys or playing on the play ground. They couldn’t care less if somebody was gay because they don’t even know what that means. While a good portion of gay rights activists seek relationship rights, one thing I think we can all take from these people is the need to end discriminating against individuals on the basis of anything because, admittedly, there still is a lot of prejudice and stereotypes floating around that targets homosexuals as people. Additionally, while supporting the advancement of homosexual relationships may be anti-Catholic, supporting homosexuals and homosexual legislation regarding issues like repealing DADT, allowing homosexual single people to adopt and ending gay bullying can both be very pro-Catholic and pro-homosexual.

You have obviously not read abut Catholic aoption agencies closing their doors instead of agreeing to be forced to allow homosexuals to adopt children:

DADT is another false effort to normalize hmosexual behavior. Each homosexual person is to be protected from bullying and unjust discrimination, but the establishment of homosexual families in the form of gay or lesbian married couples on military bases would damage combat readiness and unit cohesion. And I can get you quotes about that last part from military sources. The Pentagon, not LGBT organizations, run the military.
