Not really. I know of people who lost their job in a Catholic institution (kindergarten, elementary school, parish) because they got a legal divorce and then lived with a partner whom they later legally married. A friend of mine actually only kept her job because she married her boyfriend. The Church should be free to choose whom they employ and use their own criteria for that. If they chose to do an employment test for academic knowledge needed for whatever position they have open or make sure that the lifestyle of the job candidate is in accordance with Church teaching. They should be able to pick whoever is right for the position in all aspects.I don’t think so. Providing health insurance to employees is not a religious practice.
Catholic Charities has no business policing the bedrooms of its employees. Or some employees, anyways. As others have mentioned, CC is singling out the sin of homosexuality, while turning a blind eye to all the other repeated sins which are lived by its employees. If CC is to be consistent, they should be advocating denying health coverage to couples involving divorced and remarriage etc. But they haven’t done that
