No I see where your coming from…but for it to be apples to apples the sodomy laws would still have to be in effect.

They are apples & apples if you use the criteria of *two consenting adults *engaging in a relationship. That seems to be the most common reasons for allowing SSM and repeal of sodomy laws.

Why should homosexuals be allowed to copulate and not family?:confused:

P.S. I don’t like writing these things. It hurts. My wife suffered incestuous abuse as a child.

Please first now that I agree with the point your trying to make…I also am sorry to hear that your wife had to go through this:(

Homosexuals can now copulate because they have argued that it (sodomy laws) where un-constitutional.:mad: You can read the deciding Supreme Court case here sodomylaws.org.

I am sure that if people that perform incestuous acts had a big enough lobby they too could get laws overturned in their favor.:eek:

Then, if you truly believe that they are the same thing based on that criteria, you should be campaigning to remove any right that heterosexuals have to civil marriage on the same grounds.🤷

I just wish the people on these boards could see the similarity of the two acts.

I am sorry your wife experienced such. I have also had family members and a friend who have had similar experiences.

Based on that, you should be able to distinguish between sexual relationships between unrelated consenting adults and the additional dynamics, pressures and questions of actual consent that come into the picture in a intrafamily situation of the sort you describe. You should also be able, I hope, to distinguish between abuse of a child and a relationship between truly consenting adults.

Just to clarify, I am using the term incest in terms of immediate family, as those are the examples you mentioned. I am not using it to mean cousin marriages or relationships and not in terms of abusive actions by adults toward children.
