My question is this. If you support same sex marriage no matter what faith you are, would that not be the same as supporting a sin?
Difficult for the heterosexual to understand. The homosexual would probably ask us why we would want to marry opposite sex. I suppose the motivation for both is similar - genuine love for the other person, and a desire to express that love in ways made available by society and/or the church.can anyone tell me why someone would want to marry the same sex?
i personally think its wrong
It is wrong, (sin). With God all things are possible, and with His Grace this disorder can be healed, OR they will have the grace to live chastely.can anyone tell me why someone would want to marry the same sex?

Yes friend…that is exactly why gay men and women want to form families and unions…it is not a subversive plot to overthrow western civilization…but a desire…need…to participate fully within society and receive it’s benefits as any contributor to society has a right to…the “activism” is a reaction against the injustice and prejudice so often displayed against them…gay men and women wish to have equal rights to visit their loved ones…have rights of survivorship protected and establish a life with their partner where neither the church nor society can take those rights away.Difficult for the heterosexual to understand. The homosexual would probably ask us why we would want to marry opposite sex. In Corinthians Paul also says women should not speak in churches. In Corinthians Paul says that men who have sex with men will not inherit the kingdom of God.
I know someone will say that he also says that the greedy, slanderers, drunks, etc also will not inherit the kingdom of God, and that is why we all have to repent and ask God for forgiveness when we do such things and try not to do them again. If those who practice same sex do not repent and try to stop (which I do understand can be very difficult) then they will not inherit the kingdom of God.
So I believe those who do support same sex marriage are supporting sin, just like how they would be supporting sin if they were urging someone to get drunk, lie, etc.
Well said Publisher in giving an explanation as to how Christians can believe on this. God bless you and peace. As a Friend…and a Christian…I do not believe homosexuality is a sin. It is another natural expression of human sexuality. Those prohibitions listed in scritpure are more cultural and ceremonial/holiness code than blanket prohibitions.
Leviticus was written to separate Israel from their pagan neighbors which included male cult prostitution…which had established itself in Israel as you will find in various OT passages.
Same for the NT…the prohibition in Romans had to do with temple prostitution/male sexual cults…scripture makes no judgement against same sex relationships…except when pedastry is forbidden by Paul…the sexual exploitation of a younger male by and older male…which was common.
The Bible has no cohesive sexual ethic offered against homosexuality.
So…since I…nor the Meeting I attend…believe it is a “sin” to establish a loving, supporting same sex relationship we recognize and celebrate those in same sex relationships who wish to put their “marriage/union” under the care of the Meeting…throught the same process heterosexual couples do.
Paul could have been speaking directly to the people of Corinth. It could have been a discipline. What Paul didn’t say is women should not speak in churches or they will not inherit the kingdom of God.In Corinthians Paul also says women should not speak in churches.
I agree.Being homosexual is not a sin, committing homosexual acts is a sin. There is no sin in being tempted, Jesus was tempted by Satan after His 40-day fast but did not sin. A person who is tempted by homosexuality and abstains from the acts is to be commended, as an alcoholic who abstains from drinking. However, Scripture warns those who would call evil good and good evil. If you are blatantly contradicting Scripture condemning homosexual behavior and condemning people who call it a sin you need to wake up. A practicing homosexual Christian is an oxymoron, just as a Christian stripper, Christian wife beater, Christian thief, Christian assassin are oxymorons. The person who deliberately lives a lifestyle contrary to Scripture has not really surrendered to God. This is different from someone who sins in a moment of weakness or out of ignorance. Peter denied Christ in a moment of fear and weakness but was forgiven and became the leader of the early church. The Pharisees, who knew Scripture but were more interested in wealth, popularity, and power, were the recipients of Jesus most public and harsh criticism, even calling them sons of hell (Matt. 23).Homosexuality must be dealt with lovingly, patiently, prayerfully, but not with acceptance.
