San Francisco Approves Gun, Military Recruiting Ban

Yeah, flako San Francisco PCism gone amok, once again! :whacky: :rolleyes:
 
Fine on the Military Recruiting Ban. Cut off all federal funds to San Francisco and that includes any disaster relief funds for the the next earthquake.:mad:

Liberals from SF say that the government will protect them in time of disaster. Somebody, please, snap them. Just look at New Orleans.
 
The gun ban goes too far. It’s okay in my opinion to forbid public carrying of small arms in an urban environment, but to forbid it in homes or businesses is wrong. That’s on their own private property, and there is no reason to ban guns there.

Besides, how can the police enforce the law without search warrants and probable cause to get a judge to sign a warrant? A bad decision in my opinion.

Sneak searches under the guise of the PATRIOT act? Civil liberties affect everyone, and while I don’t agree with wide gun ownership, I don’t agree with the police having the power to snoop around without very good cause either.

How would they get probable cause? A neighborhood busybody saying that he heard that you owned a pistol? Cops peering through windows to see if there’s a gun on a table? It all sounds bad to me. But, like you, I’m not at all for allowing people to carry guns in a public urban environment.
 
I am not sure the college campuses will enjoy loosing federal funding.

And the gun ban is probably unconstitutional.

There are now 38 states with “shall issue” laws. Anyone who takes the course and passes the background check can get a license to carry concealed. There are several states that allow open carry with no license. And two states that allow concealed carry without a license.

Did I mention that violent crime has gone down in all those states?http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon12.gif

Does the Gun Ban not go against the Constitutional right to bare arms?

As to the Military Recruiting Ban …I agree there is no place for it in high schools…but they should be allowed in colleges.

For everyone’s edification, there are thousands of human beings living in the San Francisco Bay Area who will be horribly effected and die by another earthquake. We deserve whatever help is available regardless of how SOME people may have voted on a ballot initiative.
According to the article, 58% approved the measure and 42% opposed it.
Who’s going to check the voting records before any earthquake rescue occurs to see who said yay or nay? Or just let all the people suffer and manage the best we can because of a gun ballot?!?

This is exactly why a military recruiting ban should be illegal. Since when can individual a city vote on this?

We are a democratic republic. The majority rules. Your majority simply don’t want our help (or are too short sited to see the ramifications of their decisions). To get the service men and women to help you we have to recruit. The majority of SF wants the help but they are outlawing the ability for us to help you. They can’t have it both ways. No matter how much they wish it so. IMHO it is extremely selfish and short sited to think otherwise.
 
How is stopping military recruitment on campus going to stop people joining the military? Do people not realise there is a US military unless they have a stall on campus?? :confused:

Not sure how you do recruiting, but around here, you need to go where the young people are to recruit them. They don’t appear by osmosis. And on college and high school campuses you have all kinds of business recruiting, usually at certain days and times. You want to be there at the time and place they recruit to make sure you get your story in.
