Santorum: Don’t put intelligent design in classroom
Bill Vidonic - Times Staff

BEAVER FALLS - U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum said Saturday that he doesn’t believe that intelligent design belongs in the science classroom.

Santorum’s comments to The Times are a shift from his position of several years ago, when he wrote in a Washington Times editorial that intelligent design is a “legitimate scientific theory that should be taught in the classroom.” But on Saturday, the Republican said that, “Science leads you where it leads you.”

…

Earlier this summer, President Bush said he favored teaching intelligent design in the classroom. With Santorum running for re-election next year, and with Bush and the Republican Party taking some significant hits in public confidence in recent months, Santorum insisted he is not trying to distance himself from Bush."

I have to assume that Santorum is saying this because Casey is out-polling him by double digits in Pennsylvania.

Unfortunately Senator Santorum seems subject to political expediency at times, and he has a rough campaign coming up. Note his endorsement of Senator Specter, a pro-abortion Republican, for reelection last year and for Chairman of the Judiciary Committee - which put him in charge of the approval of new judges.

I am not inclined to give much credance to his statements on morality.

Leftist dogma about science needs to be challenged.

Sen. Santorum should talk less.

He might also consider what Pope Benedict said just last Wednesday: "…some people, fooled by the atheism that they carry inside of them, imagine a universe free of direction and order, as if at the mercy of chance.

How many of these people are there today?

These people, fooled by atheism, believe and try to demonstrate that it’s scientific to think that everything is free of direction and order."

Leftist dogma?

Science is what science is. Faith is what faith is. Politics is what politics is. No need to blur the boundaries.

I’d note that the people pushing ID are almost universally Fundamentalists and Evangelicals. Could they have a certain agenda? :hmmm:
