Good for you. Just make sure your attitude is not born of independence and disillusionment but is the will of God for you. How can you be sure of that? Just ask Him to speak to you and to protect you from the influences of Satan and the world/flesh. He’ll definitely listen to such a prayer.

This is not a put down however there is a point here that surely should be noted.
Satin had a bad headache… He said to God I yes I he said will not serve You! I am as good as you…I will take all those who will follow me, away from You. Notice the operative word?
It is the I factor.
Yes and it is well known that those using the I factor are not NOT listening to God. god needs us to listen and at times He has a word from others, situations, animals (donkeys used in the bible) and others.
The I factor seems only to give glory to the user where as listening to God and adhering to His will tends away from self ( I ) other wise god would have been lying when He said “My ways are not your ways, they re so fare away from yours”
Allow yourself to hear the word of god tending away from yourself and your thoughts.

But then…have you not told yourself that even now you will not listen?

I listened for too long and got very very burnt. I have no reason to TRUST the church, if thats the authority you say I should listen to. Some catholics can NEVER understand why some people don’t trust the church because of PAIN inflicted by the church’s clergy. Judge me however you want, however God knows me, he knows what evils were committed against me and I don’t need anyone to understand.

You’ll have to excuse my caution therefore and I am sorry if it appears to be selfish, pride, sin whatever.
I call it self defense.
I have a right to reject RUBBISH preached about God and committed in God’s name

I only asked a question. That’s all. I thanked everyone for their answers to the question. Now i know the catholic position on this issue.

My friend I could NEVER judge you after all Jesus is not my God He is every ones God the difference is some accept some reject. I am called by Jesus to love all people regardless of any reason, the same way that He did.

***I now see the real you in your words and I am sorry for what you have gone through. I also have been there in deep fires of hell, believe me you are never alone even then. To some it may seem selfish but to others they can discern pain and will not put you or others down. You can call it as you do “self defense” but that is against the people of the past and present but Jesus also knows these people. ***

I only asked a question. That’s all. I thanked everyone for their answers to the question. Now i know the catholic position on this issue.there is no problem with your rights but please DON"T judge the church by those who have hurt you it is not the position of the church but that of those in the forums and others.

I realized that but there is no problem you might have noted that some time back I did the same and probably others have done the same.

I don’t believe this. Either you think you are God who can decide who goes to Hell and who doesn’t, or you think that we consider ourselves to be God and have the right (and ability) to condemn you to Hell). What have we done to you to deserve this hate, this judgment from you? What have others done to you that you can judge yourself this way? You sound as if you suffered worse than Jesus. Ever watch the Passion of the Christ by Mel Gibson? That’s how bad He suffered. Did you suffer that much that you hate yourself, your Church, and you God to the extent of condemning yourself to Hell? Not even Hitler or Stalin can condemn themselves to Hell. Are you worse off than them?

Stop hating yourself. Stop hating whoever it is/they are who hurt you. Stop hating God for allowing it to happen. Just stop hating. Life’s easier that way.

I just asked a question and asked for an answer according to catholic doctrine. Not your constant judgment of me and my intentions.
I don’t want or need your pity, I do not hate, I just asked a question. If you don’t want to answer than don’t.

Hey I don’t know what a troll is, and let alone care for it is not one Jesus gave me to call others names otherwise I would be calling God names since He made us to His own likeness.

Please surely there should not be name calling or name taking other than the one God gave us. Is it not true that the name God gave us gives glory to His creation hence we should not use others unless it be one likened to His doing in our lives.

If you want to do anything useful then pray for me a sinner, please.

The devil, in all writings about him, is a liar and the father of lies. He is a deceiver. God is love, so the devil cannot teach love, as it is antithetical to himself. The devil teaches lust and then lies about it being love. Think about the common phrase “making love”. Is it, really? No, lust is commonly portrayed by the devil as love. It is empty and selfish, two qualities the devil desires. You see, he must entice you away from God, Who is love and, in the person of Christ, selflessness. Thus, the devil warps definitions, confuses people and draws them into the opposite of love.

This he does with everything good.
 
I have observed that Satan can lead a person to appear to be teaching love, goodness and devotion to God, when actually they are leading people into wickedness and selfishness and worship of something other than God. We see this in cults all the time.

Hi Paul , one of the first points to stick out is the “I” factor. Nothing leads to giving your life to God to Jesus accepting the Holy Spirit or giving God’s peace.

There are some contradictions in the statements you are making. You say you have gotten to know God from His own mouth. Your opening question was whether the devil can lead people to God or to love, indicating that you are having communication with a spiritual being and might wonder if it is God. You sign off saying you are going to hell.

If you were hearing from God from His own mouth you would not be going to hell. That is not rubbish. It is true. God loves you and wants you to be with Him in heaven.

The being who hates you and wants you in eternal torment and wants to lead you there is the devil. He is very intelligent and is a deciever. He can appear to people and cause them to believe lies that will lead them to hell, but God would never do this. So if you believe you are talking to God and going to hell then you are deceived. That is impossible.

You seem very hurt and wounded. You claim many people have caused you pain.

Your way to heaven is being forgiven and forgiving.

Yes. He is wonderful, loving, humble, generous and indwelling. He is my joy.

I just want to know the catholic doctrine / teaching on these things. That was the purpose of this question.

I know I am not going to hell. I signed off like that because many months ago I sought advice, opinion etc and posted a thread called “why i reject jesus”. Since then some people here think I am evil, lost, going to hell, a troll, a troublemaker etc, whose every question and every word has some very evil, malicious intent behind it. Some people here even FOLLOW me to everywhere I post to (1) remind me that I posted “why i reject jesus” thread, (2) to warn other CA posters to stay clear from me because I am a nasty little person who is lost, mental, deranged, wanting attention, whatever. Another person here, I’m not sure if its one or two, who probably has good intentions, keeps indicating to me that I am demonised and need deliverance.
I therefore thought I’d spare them the trouble and just sign off that I am the one who posted that thread. Now they don’t have to follow me everywhere. I at times come to CA to ask questions, speak about spirituality etc. Almost every time I feel bullied here.

I’m sorry for the rant, that’s all I want to say in my defense.

From a Catholic point of view, no one knows their eternal destiny until we die. Some Protestants think they know for sure they are going to heaven, based on how they read certain scriptures. Catholics believe we will meet God when we die and then learn our desitiny.

We know that if we love God and one another we will go to heaven. This includes loving our enemies. For you that means loving the people who have hurt you.
