Its people like you who still give me hope that true christianity is not dead. You seem to have a grasp on what true christianity is. I may not agree with everything you believe, but you arent one of those that will totally drive me away from the church either.

Anyone who practices witchcraft is serving and indeed advancing the kingdom of darkness, whether they know it or not, or whether they like it or not. It is simply a fact. God explicitly forbids such practices. The Bible makes it very clear. If anyone thinks they can be Catholic and practice witchcraft they are deluding themselves. Christ made it clear that we cannot serve two masters. You cannot have a foot in both camps. You are either in the Kingdom of Light OR the Kingdom of Darkness. You cannot be in both. There is simply no such thing as ‘white’ or good magic.

As adults we need to take personal responsibility for ourselves in all areas of life. We have a duty to educate ourselves about our faith. No one has the power to push anyone else away from the Church, which is the Mystical Body of Christ, unless the person was only half heartedly attached to it in the first place. The complaint against so-called organized religion normally stems from a teenage rebellion phase, plain laziness, ignorance or a desire to practice a faith on our terms and not on God’s, which is in fact arrogance as it is saying that we know better than God.

I make no judgement on which applies in this case.

My wish would be for anyone who engages in magic or witchcraft to renounce it, go to confession, receive the Eucharist and never go back to such anti-Christian behaviour.

Only in Christ is there freedom and truth.

Just some points on which to reflect.

What does being anti-war have to do with Satan?

I would have figured Satan to be pro-war… that is, pro-EVERY war!

Also, for whatever else you might say about those practicing witchcraft, I highly doubt that most witches ‘worship Obama.’

Here is a different point of view why Harry is dangerous.

Harry Potter lies, cheats and steals, and is still a hero.

One librarian was quoted as saying since Harry Potter, more and more children are seeking books on witchcraft and the occult. They can’t keep the books on the shelves because of the high demand. Children WILL go out and experiment when they see magic as portrayed as positive, and morality as subjective.

I agree the entertainers have egos, that is normal considering the nature of their job, but I tend to also think there is an underlying agenda, along with making boat loads of money (for alot of people besides themselves), they can also make sure all those young kids who idolize them grow up without God in their life, trying to be like the entertainers(having no morals)…this seems right up Satans alley

They are doing a great job of this too! Back in the 90s, I remember Tipper Gore and all the talk about regulating the entertainment industry so young kids are not influenced, but in todays world, we dont hear anything about that anymore.
you know, as it might be possible that some poeple are Devil worshipers, I see most likely the reasons as to why everybody wants to have power, power feels good, it is more posible that the Devil is working behind the curtains in many stuff, but i would not go as far as saying that all those people are Devil worshipers.

Okay but if your going to take that approach then ban Tom Sawyer while your at it.

Yes satan can get in your head via the media but let me make this abundantly clear:

He can get in threw anything else too. Those saints books you read? Your never going to be that holy. That church meeting you attended? The Wilson family is very modern and they are bringing down the church, best shun them!

Stop looking for the devil or you’ll find him where he never was.

The Disney Ariel maybe. But then again a lot of kids featured on Disney shows are brats.

Read the original Hans Christian Anderson story. The little mermaid there is not a brat.
I have read the Hans Christian Anderson story. The OP was referring to Disney’s Little Mermaid, so that’s the one I’m talking about, not the original.

I listen to heavy metal, I read harry potter and other similar books (and love them!!), I love th little mermaid, I dont wear my hems down to my feet or collars up to mu neck, I practice witchtcraft. Watch out, I must be the devils spawn!!
Its stuff like this that drove me away from organized religion.
I love heavy metal too, but not Harry Potter (but not because I think it’s satanic, it was just boring).

From dictionary.com concerning sacrebleu:

Word Origin & History

sacre bleu
stereotypical Fr. oath, 1869, from Fr. sacré bleu, lit. “holy blue,” a euphemism for sacré Dieu (1768), “holy God.”

So it is no different than saying “oh shoot” instead of something else 😃
Where I’m from, i.e., Quebec, the French are very “religious” when cussing (and I don’t mean innocuous terms like “sacre bleu”).

I did not watch the Grammys last evening but read that a pop musician danced a satanic number…surprised to see this was not mentioned here today. I gave up on those hollywood and music awards a few decades ago…too raunchy.

I was reading this thread earlier and wanted to say that I thought the Grammys were the epitome of satanic influence in culture, but didn’t want to open a can of worms. However, since the Grammy Awards has now been mentioned, I’ll jump in.

I could NOT turn the channel fast enough last night when the show came on. It looked like a scene from a porn movie. Disgusting. And I’m not old (at least I don’t think so) - I’m only in my early 40s.

I turned to Charles Stanley, and his message was about Noah and the ark, and how humanity became utterly immoral, debased, depraved, perverted, and turned away from God. I then posted to my facebook account wondering whether or not Stanley chose that particular bible story in light of the Grammys being on that weekend.

Anyway - I posted that BEFORE I knew anything about the gay/straight “marriage” debauchle. So now some of my long time friends (who are gay) on facebook are somewhat upset with me. But I can’t care about that. My comment was a general overall impression of what the awards ceremony has become…which is a shame, becuase I saw a few moments of Chicago’s performance walking past my husband’s home office, and they were actually tasteful (at least what I saw of them).

Ah well…I still think most of our pop culture is permeated by overt sexuality, violence, misogeny (sp?), materialism, egoism, and godlessness. I haven’t been able to listen to top40 music for the last 10 years, and after I stopped listening, my depression and hopelessness lifted immensely. Don’t even get me started on the popular sitcoms out there…

Satanic number? Wha?

Why Tom Sawyer? But time was about witchcraft the entire book. And I don’t believe children would go to the library to books on witchcraft because of reading Tom Sawyer.
This person is giving something she has personally witnessed as a librarian. And would you say that this is a good thing for our youngsters to be into?

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

Because most of the issues people have with Harry Potter outside of the occult is his disrespect for rules. Read Tom Sawyer because he breaks more rules then any child in any book I have ever read.

The problem is children are not being taught what a plot device is.

Magic is a plot device. It moves the story along as the basis for carrying the story.

Also why is the average catholic listening to exorcist homilies tapes anyway?

I think Rock7 was very serious and from what I could tell very genuine in convicting the woman of her sins. Now if the woman was sarcastic then maybe he took it the wrong way as for the anti-war stance I think he was just as sincere.

So what proof do you have that the way I live y life is sinfull, cause I dont see it. I do everything I can to be good to people. I walk to work every cay. There is a gomeless man that always hangs out in the same street. I always make sure to have cash on me to give him, even though I myself am poor. Now the catholic chrch I attended a while back had a homeless woman that went to mass every day. She has ocd or something. She was dirty and smelled.I always made it a point to give her some money and aske her how she was doing. So I started noticing that I wasn’t seeing her in mass anymore. I asked someone who I considered to be a friend where she was. This friend had high standing in the church, was involved in pretty much every organization in the church, every class, every charity, she even worked in the parish office. I considered her a very pius woman. So she tells me that the homeless woman had been banned from the church for being a pest. She had personally gone to the priest, told him that parishoners were being driven away by this poor homeless womans smell, that she always took to long to leave the church after mass, and that no one liked her. The priest didnt even think twice on it. I felt physically sick to see the look of triumph on this persons face. She took this womans only source of comfort away and felt good about it. I stopped going to church after that. It had become something evil to me. Not god or jesus, but the place.
So dont tell me about my sins, when this kind of thing happens in your precious one and true church. How dare you.

Dont feel bad, I just learned that our large parish has been giving out money to local homeless people, and lately there has been a large group of homeless waiting near the rectory doors for the priest to come out, and Ive heard my dad, and many others saying they dont like this!!! I could not believe these people considered themselves catholic and were somewhat offended homeless people would come to their priest for handouts…I truly am beginning to think our church is far removed from Gods word, and they are too far gone to even see it.

That’s only one church. I have been treated badly by a priest before but I know it was just that priest who was wrong, not the Church as a whole. Many Catholic Churches do a lot of good for poor people.
By they way, I hope you don’t take this to mean I think you’re a sinful person, because I don’t. I don’t know you at all so cannot make that kind of judgement. I’m sorry that you had that bad experience.

I can understand why some people might not like the practice of “handing out money.” Reason, you don’t know what they will do with it. Some will use it to eat. While others will use it for drugs or booze.

Many times, it’s better to use the money to buy homeless food (where they come and eat) or to donate it to groups who give them shelter, provide medical care, teach them a trade, etc.

Handing out money isn’t always the best way to help the poor.
