my previous parish was without a priest for 18 months and it was a weekly scramble for Sister to call around and find a priest for even one Mass. We were assigned a newly ordained priest from Mexico, very traditional, wonderful priest, but the parish gave him such a hard time he was reassigned to another parish that appreciates him. Then we had a lovley older priest, who was killed in a car accident after a few months. Again, several months without a priest, but surrounding parishes made sure we had at least a couple of Masses each weekend. According the word on the street, we have a reputation as being a “difficult” parish and no priest wanted to be assigned here. We finally got a new pastor, he is greatly loved, a very fine priest, but has attachments to local social-justice movements, which has turned off a lot of people. So the parish is once again in conflict. Please pray for them.Asquared – I know someone in your part of the world who sees a priest for Mass only once a MONTH! Other Sundays it’s a Communion service. Forget about Saturday Mass or Mass on ANY other day of the week! Pray for vocations!
