Does not God ask that we obey His word?
If your understanding of what the Church of Christ is in conflict what God has previously said, where do you go?

**You don’t actually t hink that Catholics don’t obey God’s Word, do you?

Is this what you’re saying?**

The Holy Father could never recognise mohammed as a prophet of God as it is outside the deposit of faith left by our Lord and apostles. God would never allow the Holy Father to do so as it is a contradiction to the crucifixion and redemption of Christ.
Silly sounds from the Saudi’s methinks

The Pope will not recognize Mohammed the same as he would not recognize “bishops” inserted into the Oriental Catholic Church by the Chinese government.

This is all speculation based on an article that says nothing of what the Pope is actually doing but only of what the Saudi government is demanding in order to allow a church to be built within their borders.

It’s just one more case of the double-standard of Islam. They demand to be recognized by the world, but they’ll be darned if they recognize anyone else.

Hisalone, did you actually read the article, or did you just read into it what you wanted to fit your own ideological bent?

Yes I was over sensentional.
My questions to Catholics is will you remain Catholic when a future Pope makes concessions to the Muslims?
I would remain Catholic; not sure about any pope that would go that far though. It seems like he would belong to that small group of popes in history that flew off the handle and moved to France.

Mohammad and Joseph Smith are in the same category so it almost impossible to imagine any Catholic Pope going there for any reason.

What does “recognize Mohammed” mean in the context of the question? A Christian can recognize that Mohammed is very important to Muslims and their culture WITHOUT acknowledging that he was a prophet or even a nice person. I don’t think he was a nice person or a prophet. The question is too broad and imprecise.
What does it mean "when the Pope does "whatever’? How about if the Pope does such and such?
The questions are a little like “when did you stop beating your wife?”

Reality check, please. For the Pope to recognize Mohammed as a ‘true’ prophet would essentially mean for Christianity to accept Islam as the ‘true’ religion. It will not happen.

Every single person who has ever lived in the history of humankind will eventually recognise Muhammad (pbuh) as a true Prophet of God.

It would however be a whole lot better to wholeheartedly accept this while one is still alive because it will not do someone much good at all if he or she only accepts this after death.

I thought that it was Jesus to whom every knee would bend. Funny, I must have been reading on older set of books and failed to keep up with that new-fangled religion.

Oh, and it would be a whole lot better to wholeheartedly accept Jesus while one is still alive because it will not do someone much good at all if he or she only accepts this after death. However, given this is Divine Mercy Sunday, I would not want to limit the mercy of God at all toward someone misguided as to newer religions.

Newsflash!! – Muslims have wholeheartedly accepted Jesus (pbuh) as the Messiah since some 1,400 years ago.

Newsflash!! Muslims accept Jesus as a prophet, but not as the Son of God. Christians do not accept Mohammed as a prophet, because he shows no signs as being a prophet.

The likes of you, Hagee, and his ilk are much more likely to join forces with Islam against Catholics than the Church is to make concessions to Islam.

You wise guys are in for a rude awakening concerning Islam, and you’ll see that the perceived evil of the Crusades wasn’t as one-sided as has been presented to you in your churches.

What is it about his murderering and being a thief that makes you honor him so much?

A risk well worth taking. Both of us may face a surprise after death, but i am willing to bet yours will be greater.

It is not up to me to decide what the Church of Christ is, or isn’t. It is for God to decide, and God to protect. It is for that reason that I can’t leave the Catholic Church, since it constitutes the fullness of truth. The Orthodox Church, is something less.
God has come Himself and told you where His Church is? Or did you make that call based upon study, diligent comparison and prayer?

You cannot found the Church of Christ, but you can certainly find it.

This thread is ridiculous.

It doesn’t even say the pope will recognize Muhammad in the article, like you said in the title. It only says from Saudi officials and experts that he and all Christian churches will need to recognize Muhammad for them to be allowed to worship in S.A. In other words, become Muslim.

The Holy Father would not make such a move . . . if any Pope does he is probably not a Catholic. If a Pope and successive Popes would make such a move, you would see me for divine liturgy in an Orthodox Church.

If the Pope were to ever accept the [false] prophet Mohammad as a true prophet, I assume he’ll be doing it with his fingers crossed.

OH my! does the pope say anything with his fingers crossed? Say it ain’t so!

I agree with Chuck H.

Recognising Muhammad is like recognising Joseph Smith.
Sure, both muslims and mormons say that one day we will recognise their prophets.

The mormons even baptise non mormons after their death into the mormon faith.

Ahmadi muslims claim muslims will one day recognise Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a prophet.

Christians claim others will recognise the universality of God represented in three manifestations, including Jesus.

And so it goes.

Lets be good to each other and let the claims stand on their merits.

Of course, first we have to be willing to critically look at the merits, or not. None of my business what others do.
