Why some Muslim members still asking me after calling me “a munafiq, a liar, a traitor, a hypocrite, the one who spreading lies & hatred, and the fool in the matters both of Shari’ah and Saudi Law” !!!
.
because you are a Saudi citizen. It’s easy for u to explain the local laws for us .

We are not asking you to explain Islam to us but how the Judges are giving reference from Quran to justify the verdict when they have no 4 witnesses. What was the exact comment of the Judge ? As a Saudi , it’s easy for you to know .

To know about Saudi laws or comment of a local Judge, is not it better to ask a local person than ask Americans or European who don’t live in the kingdom ?

With all due respect, Madam, I do hope that you’ll remember this line of reasoning next time you feel the urge to post about the Western countries and what does or does not go on in them and why. It is ALWAYS best to take a local’s view on his own country’s law than to just trust whatever you read or see on TV or anywhere else about places where you do not even live. 🙂

It’s sick, barbaric, and only once again shows the true nature of the “peaceful” Islam.
Whenever I hear “peaceful Islam” I check my bottled water for “nutrition information”.

LOL

this story keeps haunting me. her attorney is appealing her sentence, but let us keep praying for her. it seems there is some media coverage, but from what i’ve searched not enough.

at least i spotted this:

World should protest latest Saudi travesty

Vancouver SunMarch 20, 2009

The case of a 75-year-old Saudi Arabia widow who faces a flogging because her nephew and a male friend of his brought bread to her house, jars the western psyche once again with the reality of what it’s like to live under that country’s brutally repressive, patriarchal regime.

Khamisa Sawadi was ordered last week to receive 40 lashes and be deported – she is Syrian, but her husband was Saudi – for the “crime” of mingling with men who are not her immediate relatives.

The two men were also sentenced to floggings and prison terms.

In a desperate bid to save herself, Sawadi argued that she had breastfed her 24-year-old nephew and thought of him as a son, but the court didn’t buy it, no doubt because the age difference means she would have breastfed him when she was 51 – a highly unlikely scenario. The barbarous mindset that could order the whipping of an elderly woman is truly incomprehensible.

Fortunately, the degree of angry criticism Sawadi’s case has evoked both inside the country and internationally can be the catalyst for change.

In February, the Saudi king fired the chief of the religious police who proclaimed himself in favour of killing broadcasters who air “immoral content.”

There are signs that change is in the wind, but it is not coming quickly enough.

Sawadi’s lawyer is appealing her flogging, but he shouldn’t have to – if Saudi rulers care at all about the international optics, and the firing of the religious police chief shows they do, they should cancel the three floggings and set Sawadi and the two men free.

Mother Mary together with all the angels and saints please pray for this poor woman and two men. May this story shed light on the atrocities being committed.

Amen.

"CAIRO - A 75-year-old widow in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to 40 lashes and four months in jail for mingling with two young men who are not close relatives, drawing new criticism for the kingdom’s ultraconservative religious police and judiciary.

The woman’s lawyer told The Associated Press on Monday that he would appeal the verdict against Khamisa Sawadi, who is Syrian but was married to a Saudi. The attorney, Abdel Rahman al-Lahem, said the verdict issued March 3 also demands that Sawadi be deported after serving her sentence."

Another example of: Islam the religion of peace

The case of a 75-year-old Saudi Arabia widow who faces a flogging because her nephew and a male friend of his brought bread to her house, jars the western psyche once again with the reality of what it’s like to live under that country’s brutally repressive, **patriarchal **regime.
SA is a Theocratic regime and the perfect demonstration of how evil human beings become when they believe they are as authorized as God to mete out judgement and punishment.

Only Satan could do a better job. \

Jesus taught: He who is without sin may cast the first stone.

I guess all those Sauds believe they are divine.

Hi,

I am not sure if there has been an update since I last posted here,

I have been busy,

According to Amnesty International:

On or around 19 May, the Court of Cassation in Riyadh refused to
ratify the sentence of flogging and imprisonment that had been
passed against Khamisa Mohammed Sawadi, Fahad and Hadyan.
They had all been found guilty of khilwa (being in the company of
members of the opposite sex who are not close relatives). The case
has now been sent back to al-Shamli court, north of the capital
Riyadh, for review. If the court upholds its original verdict, the
three will be at risk of being flogged and imprisoned. If they are
imprisoned, they would be prisoners of conscience as Amnesty
International considers imprisonment on grounds of khilwa

I am trying to find something more recent.

I know there are urgent action offices but nothing I see so far for this grandmother since this, nothing showing her for July. I may call an office tomorrow.

If people can write on their behalf I do have the addresses.

Here is another source for the story:

arabnews.com/?page=1&section=0&article=122734&d=21&m=5&y=2009

Man, that article said her home is only a tent:

**Sawadi’s lawyer, Abdul Rahman Al-Lahem, said the verdict was against the principles of Shariah. “Islam has given women different and simpler rules to follow when they become old,” he said, citing the example of covering the face.

“The judge was supposed to deal with this woman on that basis,” the lawyer added.

The Court of Cassation has returned the case to Al-Shamli court with several observations on the previous verdict, including the rejection of her breastfeeding claim and the fact that she is old.

The court said it based its March 3 ruling on information from citizens and the testimony of Al-Anzi’s father, who accused Sawadi of corruption.

“The villagers confirmed that he is her breast-fed son,” Al-Lahem said, adding that khulwa takes place in a closed place where there are no other witnesses.

“Sawadi’s house is only a tent. Everyone could see her,” the lawyer said.

Sawadi now lives in Riyadh with her daughter and refuses to speak to the press.**

Whipped or not, this is what the Religion of Peace calls being morally upright.

“I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 “But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished! 51 “Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; 52 for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three. 53 “They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
This story likely gives the correct context for Jesus’ words here.

This system of tribalism which enforces family values to the point of women being absolutely stifled is not the type of system that Christians need be at peace with.

The society that Jesus was raised was not very different that the society of Wahhabi tribalism in which family members are stifled from what we might call normal interactions.

His attitude of contempt was the proper one to have.

This is not family values that limits freedom this way, but rather the continuing dehumanization of women into chattel.

Salaam/peace

Islam teaches to punish both men & women sinners , not only women. If Saudi court decided to punish only woman here , bash them , why put blame on Islam ? Strange.
No No. They are using Islam to justify flogging this old woman. There is a difference.

Her nephew and his friend brought her bread. This is an act of charity. If Islam can condemn people for an act of charity then that speaks louder and truer than the cry of any Khoja
