This conflict has been going on for about one year. Catholic Medical is looking to affiliate with Dartmouth Hitchcock but the issue is abortion, sterilizations,etc.

With this article it hit a new low because the news article is about pro-lifers who are protesting the move and how they, themselves, have at times used Dartmouth Medical for their families.

But the two – former alderman Richard Girard and former state Rep. Barbara Hagan – said the care their family gets from Dartmouth-Hitchcock physicians involves nothing that violates Catholic health care guidelines.

“I’m not against Dartmouth-Hitchcock giving health care, but I only go there for certain things,” said Hagan, whose daughters see pediatricians at the clinic. She questions how CMC, as an institution of the Catholic Church, can partner with an organization that provides abortions and other care opposed by the Catholic Church.

–Andy Martel, leader of the Save CMC effort of the 1990s, said CMC is his main hospital, and he sees many specialists affiliated with the hospital. All but three of the 48 operations he has had in his life have been at CMC, he said. He said he donates money to the hospital, as have his ancestors.

MANCHESTER – The man who runs the Respect Life office at the Diocese of Manchester has been hired as the new director of Catholic identity for Catholic Medical Center, a move that has a hospital affiliation opponent crying foul.

In the past the NH catholic hospitals had an affiliation with Eliot hospital which also does abortions, sterilizations, etc. but that bond has been severed.

Dartmouth Medical School and Dartmouth Hitchcock have many specialties. The batttle to save Catholic Medical has been going on for about one year.
