I have been a member of these forums for a pretty long time. Many of you have given me advice, some I listened to and some I didn’t. People have gotten frustrated with me as I seemed to have an answer for everything. Just know, I was equally frustrated with you too. 🙂

However, and it’s been a couple years of contemplating and deep thought, I have come to the realization that the Catholic church is not the church that I want to be part of. There is just too much I disagree with and it’s the kind of disagreement that cannot be explained away. I have often said, and not just here, but elsewhere that if I was given a choice I would have never been Catholic and would have chosen another denomination. My mom has regretted baptizing me Catholic as an infant because she realizes now that she took an important choice in my life away from me and sees me trying to be a good Catholic, but not being able to because those disagreements.

I am still looking for a church to belong to. It will be a liturgical church as that is the type of worship I prefer. I have attended the Lutheran church, but it is still too conservative for me. My girlfriend is Episcopalian and that is probably where I will go and lay down roots. I have been to many of their services and enjoy them. They are closer in line to what I believe and there are fewer disagreements to be had.

So thank you all for putting up with me.

Not sure what else I can say beyond, see you in Heaven some day!

Oh, I’m sorry to hear this. I don’t give a fig about the forums but leaving the Church is never a wise choice. This is where Christ is. I will pray for your return when you’re ready. May God bless you!

Not the Church you want to be a part of? I’m a little confused about why. Is it because of sinners in the Church? Get used to it, there are sinners everywhere. Is it because of hypocrisy of Church leaders? Get used to it, there’s hypocrisy in every facet of life. is it because of Scandal in the Church? Get used to it, there are scandals in politics too. I’m Catholic because it’s true, and I thank God I don’t base everything on feeling, because if I did, I’d not only not be Catholic, I wouldn’t be anything, I wouldn’t be an atheist, because it’s obvious to me God exists, I wouldn’t be a Protestant, because there’s no history behind it, I wouldn’t be Eastern Orthodox, because I’ve seen too many flaws in not having a leader , so I’m very glad I don’t have to base my theology on my emotions. I personally think you do not have a legitimate reason for making your choice, but what do I know? It’s not like I read history or anything.

I’m very sorry to read this. God bless and please know you are always welcomed back.

NOTE: you might want to consider an “Old Catholic Church.” While some of them are conservative, most are very liberal - and they are all very different. You might find one that fits you.

HOWEVER, I can’t underestimate how much better it would be if you remained united with Rome.

Godspeed and God Bless.

Cheers, mate! Just take Christ with you wherever you go and everything will turn out alright 🍻

I’d really look at the history behind all this. It shouldn’t really matter so much what we personally like as much as what has the truest claim to possessing the faith in its fullness. There’s certainly a lot of disunity of beliefs out there.

Nothing to do with those actually.
I’m Catholic because it’s true
I don’t believe that the Catholic church is everything it says it is.
I don’t have to base my theology on my emotions.
You have me wrong if you think that is what I am doing. I have many disagreements with the church. Not based on feelings, but on what the church teaches and I cannot agree with much of it.

This is my last post. I just wanted to respond this reply to set things straight.

I’m so sorry to hear about you deciding to leave Mother Church! Just remember that she’ll be here waiting for you with open arms!

Remember, once baptized a member of Mother Church, you’re always a member. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. We look forward to having you back Home someday.

I’m sorry to see you go. I can accept if you leave the forums- this one’s just about over- but I can’t accept for you to leave the Church. Is it a matter of theology? Worship? Whatever it is, I beseech you to pray about it. The Catholic Church is God’s Church, His Bride. It’s where you and every single human being belong. There’s simply no other place for us to go if we would decide to follow Him.

Give it more thought.

I’m sorry to hear this, I will pray for you. I hope you’ll find your way back home to our mother and to God one day…

I have, for at least a couple years. I have talked with a priest and as I said to someone else, he couldn’t address my disagreements. He just made my position more firm.
The Catholic Church is God’s Church , His Bride. It’s where you and every single human being belong. There’s simply no other place for us to go if we would decide to follow Him.
I simply just do not believe that!

I do not believe in this either. It is what the church says.

I was never given a choice of what faith I wanted to belong to. That decision was taken away from me when I was an infant by my well meaning mom. Had I been given a choice, this isn’t the church I would have chosen at all.

So, I do not believe once Catholic always Catholic. Especially when you were never given the choice of another faith to begin with.

Do you “believe” in oxygen? Gravity? Love? “Believing” that the Catholic Church is God’s Church is irrelevant since it factually is. It began with Christ – not some guy who opened a new church in his living room. You spoke with one priest and feel justified in leaving Christ? Respectfully, I’d say you have A LOT more reading and discussing to do.

You didn’t choose your parents either. Many would choose different families if they could. But God knows what we need more than we do. It’s not a curse that you were baptized Catholic: it’s a blessing!

I don’t believe that it factually is. I have read, and read and read some more. I still don’t believe it to be.

If you say so. I kindly disagree!

I’m sorry you’re leaving here. Don’t feel as though you have to because you no longer believe in Catholicism.

I hope you find what you’re looking for 🙂

I understand that you don’t. But again, do you “believe” in oxygen? Does it matter if you do? It exists regardless of your belief in it. If you don’t believe the Catholic Church is Christ’s church, again, you have MUCH more reading to do. What have you read so far on the topic?

I have already said that my last post was a couple posts ago.

So this is my last post, truly. If I am online I am responding to PMs from people and nothing more as I do get notices of those and it would be rude of me not to respond.

I’m sorry to see you go, but God did give us free will and you are correct, this is your choice. My only advice is “never say never.” Keep your heart and your mind open. There are many turns in the road to our faith journey.
